I can navigate anywhere through MSDN until I try and sign in (I need to get my key for VS.NET 7.0) and the sign script times out every time. I've been trying for an hour and a half ... anyone else having any luck?

I think MSDN is just extremely busy, (almost) everyone with an MSDN subscription is trying to get VS.NET now. I think patience will be your key to this one :) James Sonork ID: 100.11138 - Hasaki

Personally I don't see what the big rush is. 1. I can't use it on existing projects, because I learnt my lesson about switching compilers half-way through projects a long time ago. 2. I can't think of a single Web Service that I need to write (or will ever need to write) 3. I haven't got any time to play around with C# :(( 4. er, thats it.. Michael :-)

I also don't see any use for it. I only use VC++ 6. and i don't have a need to write web services. I don't prefer to write code in C# also. Visit Ltpb.8m.com

From http://msdn.microsoft.com/subscriptions/prodinfo/qa.asp#subdwnld If you receive an error message or if your browser times out, try these steps. If this does not work, please contact us.

                  1. Close all Internet browser windows.

                  2. Open Internet Explorer (IE).

                  3. Be sure you are signed out of Passport. If you need to sign out of Passport, go to http://www.passport.com and click the "Sign Out" icon.

                  4. From the IE menu, choose Tools Select Internet Options... Click the Settings button Click the View Files button

                  5. Delete all cookies with "MSDN" in them, or alternatively,

                  6. Delete all cached files.

                  7. Click OK and close all dialog boxes.

                  8. Go to https://msdn.one.microsoft.com and sign in to Passport (Do NOT select "Sign me in automatically on this computer). There is a known problem with logging into Subscriber Downloads caused by the "Sign me in automatically on this computer" feature.

I had the same problem, but this fixed it. Jon Sagara What about :bob:? "Teve Torbes, I've only got one thing to say to you: Tuck Off!" -- Dob Bole

In a nutshell, we're doing a whole lot of calculations based on some data entry. It would be great to have the data entry portion on the web and leave our calculation engine on our server and have the web app call our calc engine (which would be a web service) and spit out the answer back to the client. Nothing earth shattering there.

But exactly what we need :) A lot of people diss web services because they can do the same thing with older technology. They say "but I can already do that? whats the big deal?". WEll the big deal to me is that there is now a standard and easy way to do it, one which everyone will use and so interoperability and integration will come to fruition with much less effort. Also ease of use is a big thing to me. Before .NET or SunOne building a web-service like technology was quite a mission. Now all the infrastructure and methods are already there, you can focus on the data and the solution. I believe that once people make virtually all their data and services available by a web-service interface that the industry will gain momentum and evolve into a much more integrated "web." regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass Cape Town, South Africa "The greatest thing you will ever learn is to love, and be loved in return" - Moulin Rouge Martin Marvinski wrote: Unfortunatly Deep Throat isn't my cup of tea Do you Sonork?
