That's a very good point. LOL. I thought for a second that he was indicating that he wasn't planning on answering questions :) I also think you're right on the translation from reading his words. I'm sorry but it was a nightmare. or "How to destroy a song in 3 minutes". The original is very good, but I really don't understand why they choose beyonce to sing it, because first, she can not speak french (it was hard to recognize the song), and second, the interesting part of the song is the choir. And beyonce took all the place, and you could barelly hear the boys singing. just my 2 cents.

Possibly :) Actually, I thought Drexler's comments about Banderas' rendition were extremely classy. If you didn't see that, he basically said that Banderas did a good job, but that he (Drexler) wanted to sing his version of his own song. The best part of the Academy Awards last night was definitely how Jorge Drexler handled his "acceptance speech"!! I'm not a musician, but I can definitely empathise with him and applaud his response! For those that don't know, Jorge Drexler's song "Al Otro Lado del Rio" ("To the Other Side of the River") became the first-ever foreign-language song to be nominated for Best Original Song by the Academy (Drexler is Uraguayan). However, Academy Awards producers decided that his name wasn't big enough and announced that Antonio Banderas and Carlos Santana would perform Drexler's song at the awards! This is a huge issue to the Latin community as the nomination represented a tremendous accomplishment in getting their music recognized on such a stage. Then not only did their man who wrote and sang the nominated song not get to sing it, but to have people from completely different continents perform it was definitely an insult. It was like the academy was saying, "Well, they speak Spanish, too, so it's close enough." Drexler was very gracious and sat in his seat politely smiling while Banderas and Santana performed *his* song, but it definitely had to hurt as that's *his* song that someone else is getting to perform. So, his song did win the award (smart move, Academy!) and Drexler walks up to the podium, bends over the microphone and ... sings his song acapella!! It was brilliant. Almost like saying, "I poured my soul into this song and I will be heard singing my song." Very well done. He didn't need to flame the Academy or insult anyone. He just got up there, accepted his award, sang his song and quietly left. Without a doubt, the most poignant moment of the evening for me.
of course this does beg the question of why anyone would actually watch the Academy awards :) That said, I did get considerable pleasure from last years Lay Down Misere - Peter Jackson winning best director.
