You could go old school[^], hardcore[^], all green peace[^] or, like me, new age[^]. The MS one that I have is a lovely keyboard. The multimedia controls on it are surprisingly useful (though the other app keys are less so and the Function Lock is annoying till you have remapped them). regards, Paul Watson South Africa PMW Photography Gary Wheeler wrote: It's people like you that keep me heading for my big debut on CNN...

Whenever i start to doubt that there is an alliance between Microsoft and The Forces of Darkness, i need only look at their keyboards. It nearly brings tears to my eyes... Ignoring the broken function key placement and the sadly warped spacebar (as they've been previously introduced), what shameful thing have they now done to the right CTRL key position? And the editing key block?! :wtf: At least they've come to their senses regarding the cursor key layout.

I just bought a Microsft keyboard, traditional layout with a few extra buttons. This was so I could get a good quality keyboard, the Compaq ones at work are rubbish. Elaine :rose: The tigress is here :-D
Trollslayer wrote: the Compaq ones at work are rubbish Tell me about it. I've got one here at home. The keyboard action itself is okay, but the stupid #@#@!$@ firmware in it doesn't behave precisely according to the BIOS protocol. As a result, during a reboot, it locks up the BIOS in my PC about 2 times in 3, requiring a smack on the reset button (which of course is one of those equally stupid recessed things). The one good thing I have left from my brief fling with carrying a Palm Pilot; the old stylus makes a perfect recessed-reset-button pusher.

Buy one that makes click sounds - some of the newer keyboards have keys so soft that they are silent - keyboards gotta make that clickety sound else it's rather weird :-)

is that microsoft keyboard you have one of those with no insert key? it does look nice in the picture, and i am totally wedded to my current basic microsoft ergonomic keyboard. i would never go back to a straight keyboard, but nice split keyboards seem to be very rare. however i have the sound of the function key lock problem :~ zen is the art of being at one with the two'ness
