Where else can you think of where a man can be forced to sit at home in the early evening in screaming pain from an ear infection because his government refuses to permit him to purchase an antibiotic that would attack the infection in hours without paying a bribe to a doctor for an official permission slip? I can drive to Mexico, buy the needed meds, return home and have the cure already at work on the problem, hours before I can see a doctor. This is just one reason I oppose any form of the Nanny State that Liberal Democrats are trying to force down our throats. For all their well-meant efforts, no government managed program has ever failed to make a problem worse than it would have been, left unattended. The FDA is no exception. hmmm, everywhere else in the west? and pretty much everywhere else period, just that in some countries people don't care so much about rules. back home I was able to go to the pharmacy and get the right antibiotics for my ear (punctured eardrum, very prone to infections) when I needed them, but that was only because the pharmacists were nice and understanding people, and there wasn't much in place to control them. from what I hear it is not as easy as that now, after the "revolution". and there it is still possible to go and see a specialist without the need for a referral. here in Australia I have to go to my GP first, and if I'm not bold enough (as in tell him what a low opinion I have about idiots and cheats, with just a few anatomically incorrect suggestions) he'll give me an useless prescription and call me back in a week or two. Only then he'll give me the referral. which only puts me in the queue to see a real specialist, usually more than 3 weeks later. don't give up hope and try to go top sleep OGR

I'm looking forward to it, Luis, though given my current financial state, it may be a couple of years. The Tarahumara sounds wonderful to me - I came here to this godforsaken desert hellhole from the mountains of the Peoples' Republic of California. I miss tall pines, bears in the trash cans, racoons on the porch, and various critters that make every day a challenge. Most of all, I miss seasons. We only have two here - Christmas and Summer. It sucks. Can you get cocodamol without a prescription in the US (as you can here in the UK)? If so, it's a pretty effective painkiller, and may help a little (especially if you combine it with a nightcap). Tramadol is pretty effective too, but that's prescription only here. Beyond that the painkillers are not only effective but much more dangerous (coproximol springs to mind). Can you get cocodamol without a prescription in the US (as you can here in the UK)? If so, it's a pretty effective painkiller, and may help a little (especially if you combine it with a nightcap). Darn. So, a good idea in the US would be to fake pain once a year so you get a prescription for a common pain-killer which you could then store for times of need? For my (still-hurt-a-lot) teeth I am currently using "Tispol Ibu-DD", which is a Lysin-salt (Ibuprofen). I can get this over the counter without a prescription. Also, I have Paracetamol at home once I am out of Tispol, but I will have to bear the pain for 16 hours before I may take the first Para, so I will probably buy another pack of Tispol tomorrow.
