Burning the flag

The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning -- US Flag Code. TITLE 4. CHAPTER 1. Sec. 8(k)

It should not be embroidered on such articles as cushions or handkerchiefs and the like, printed or otherwise impressed on paper napkins or boxes or anything that is designed for temporary use and discard.

If someone wants to burn a flag, go ahead. This amendment, in my eyes, is the same as saying it is unconstitutional to say "America sucks". Am I missing something, should this pass? Any other countries have laws prohibiting the desecration of their flag? BW

When I was young I had some of these items (I won't say which ones). I don't remember having anything with my national flag on it :suss:

Even strawberries get it.Actually, it is more general in scope than just burning, and does not itself prohibit anything. Intsead it would give congress the power to do so if approved. IMO the very idea of Congress proposing Constitutional ammendments to give itself additional powers - of any kind - is offensive. It is unlikely to get by the Senate, and even less likely to be ratified by 3/4 of the state legislatures. Even strawberries get it.There shouldn't be an amendment to ban flag burning. But than, the supreme court should never have outlawed a state (or community's) right to ban any such form of expression they deem appropriate. "Capitalism is the source of all true freedom."

Even strawberries get it.We can't, supposedly, put a stamp upside down on a letter. The stamp, having the image of queen lizabeth, has to be upright. But regarding the Union Flag (Jack), I've never heard of any laws regarding defacing it etc. Truth is the subjection of reality to an individuals perception. || Nunc est bibendum!
