Roger Wright wrote: And you've only posted 202 messages? :omg: I have been a silent reader of The Lounge and often C++/C#/.NET forums for quite sometime. Most of the time, I browse using Mozilla with tightest security settings and cookies disabled. (Trust me this browser and its highly configurable settings have saved me from so many fatal security problems that plague IE) So, when I need to post, I reluctantly use Internet Explorer, my least favorite of all browsers. I always enjoy reading posts in The Lounge and learn a thing or two when I go to other forums. There are always many new things to learn and appreciate whenever I visit CP. Also, I have introduced CP to a couple of dozen friends/colleagues, and they all love it. :) Roger Wright wrote: For shame...:suss: Sorry, I didn't understand this part. Farhan Noor Qureshi

In the beginning there was Bob; erm, no, there was this giant turtle actually, but Bob came shortly after. "...putting all your eggs in one basket along with your bowling ball and gym clothes only gets you scrambled eggs and an extra laundry day... " - Jeffry J. Brickley

I was in my profile updating some stuff and I happened to glance up at the number of members here on CP to see the count sitting at 2,066,577 My first reaction was :omg: the last time I actually remember reading/seeing something about member count, it had just hit 1 million. When I signed up, I was member No. 15378 and I thought that was a high count at the time. I have to admit, I am amazed at the number of members here on CP and just how far it has come. One can only imagine what it must be like to control the website that has influence over that many people ... right Chris? At this rate, the name will have to change to Code Empire and we'll all have to start calling Chris ... Lord Maunder Emmm ... maybe I shouldn't be giving him any ideas ... :~

It's hard to believe that the success of this site is real. When I joined I was really bailing out of CodeGuru because it had become irrelevant to me. I wasn't a programmer (and I'm still not), but once in a while I had a need to write an app for a customer. The grass seemed greener on the CP side of the fence, so I jumped. I'm glad I did, as here I have met the only peers I've had in my life in over a decade. Even though programming is not my life, the thoughts and feelings of people who do program for a living resonate with my own very nicely, and I feel at home here. The folks here are my friends and family, and I can never thank Chris, et al, enough for creating this amazing presence on the web. It has been since its inception, and remains, unique in the world, and I'm proud to be a member. :-D "...putting all your eggs in one basket along with your bowling ball and gym clothes only gets you scrambled eggs and an extra laundry day... To top it off, CP works nearly the same in Firefox as IE thanks to Jorgen for submitting the Forum scripts to Chris and Shog9 for writing a GreaseMonkey script to make it even better.

Haha, about a year ago when I posted more frequently I often had exactly the same idea! :D I was hoping to buy a cool ID, like maybe 42 or 286 ;P (hm, probably only the last one is an option as Mr. CL owns 42, lucky man). Paul

Yes, I can identify with that; I also don't program enough (because it's only a hobby which I don't make enough time for :-O) but sometimes just lounging about (older members will recognize me as a compulsive lounger from a while ago...) is great fun, the people here are generally really good-natured (and have interesting interests). I'm scared, Rog. I always used to think of Nish as somebody from my own age group. Then I stumbled across one of Nish's blog entries where he talks about being middle-aged. :apprehensive emoticon: You might not know it, but in India it's customary to call older people who're not related to you 'uncle' or 'aunty' (unless of course, it's a business environment). If it's somebody just a few years elder, you call them 'bhaiya' or elder brother. Kids are now calling me 'uncle'. :sigh: Of course, people who know me personally will swear that I'm still a kid. I rather like being a kid at heart, and will give you an honest compliment by saying that I've drawn inspiration from you. :rose: :) Cheers, Vikram.

Don't be scared - Nish is a worrier. He probably started planning his funeral when they gave him a driver license.;) Anyone under 30 is a kid, but most of them lack enough experience to realize that. Keep on being a youngster - I'm convinced that you'll live longer that way. And even if it doesn't extend life, a youthful approach to life makes it so much more fun!:-D "...putting all your eggs in one basket along with your bowling ball and gym clothes only gets you scrambled eggs and an extra laundry day... Also, I was playing around with words in my reply to Paul's mail. He meant 'older members' as in people who joined earlier. I was referring to physical age in my reply. :) Cheers, Vikram.

I know. I almost made a smart reply myself along those lines.:) "...putting all your eggs in one basket along with your bowling ball and gym clothes only gets you scrambled eggs and an extra laundry day... " - Jeffry J. Brickley
