if you only want the satellite foto's and additional info (so no roads and stuff) try "Worldwind" ... No hurries, no worries.

Not bad, network loading is just a tad slower than world wind, osg planet and others. elevation data could really use some work. Too much haze for here, too little for Los Angeles.
