I was amused by the previous post on the (Winter) Olympic Games, where (to name ONE example), the Americans were advised to be less patriotic ... loved John's comment, "bullshit" I would have thought (of the Americans), show me one thats not patriotic and I'll show you someone who's a Canadian in disguise ... so this brings me to an interesting point - how do people out there see us Kiwi's/Australians, how do the Indians see the Yanks and Poms etc this is purely for amusement of course, anyone with over-inflated ego's need not post a reply - Im not 'knocking' any person(s) or countries for their personal/political views on others .. or, how do you see you're own country ?? If I said Australia was a place of sport fanatics, bronzed lifeguards and great looking blondes, (a popular sterotype), I'd be ignoring the the short, fat, ugly baldies like myself - but you get the picture - what we are seen as vs what we are :) I hope this provokes some laughable posts ... Americans are money grubbing imbaciles Australians drive a UN jeep around the beach Russians are ambivilant about their leaders, kind of love-hate relationship Mexicans drink cheap beer and sleep in the street corner afterwards so their wife won't kill them Brazilians party a lot for no reason Argentina has a crapy TV industry China is god's ant-farm French are a bunch of snail-eatin'-red-light-crossing-tourist-haters-snobs Brits have WAY too much spare time so they grow mustaches for no obvious reasons, 60% of the population are cops and the rest make lousy sitcoms Irish folks live in the local pub Germans have weird haircuts and listen to crapy heavy metal music all day and trash public stuff Dutch have large blond women who cook New Zealand has the best women soccer team, again we're talking large hairy blond women Japanese wear cameras on their neck daily, just in case they cross a beautiful bridge on their way to work Swiss morn dead cows as the have no news non-what-so-ever Indians warship cows South Africans are either dead or wild hippies in jail That's it I guess. With some much corruption on policts, an more and more miserable people on the streets... it´s quite disapointing. And the worst thing is that the people do nothing about it... they just let it be ! If you look at Argentina crises for example, people go to the streets to protest because they desagree with the current situation of the country. This kind of thing doesn´t happen here. Americans' ideas on Canada. The movie "Canadian Bacon" (last movie of the great John Candy) put all the stereotypes together and so obviously so (to me at least). The best thing was watching it with an american friend of mine and how she didn't get all the stereotypes.;P It was a good movie that poked fun of both Canadians and Americans.
