Let's hope they now officially allow themes created by users... Come on, the transparency of window titles and menus just sucks... Have a look at the 2nd screenshot of the link you posted. Imho the transparency is horribly irritating. It just slows me down recognizing the elements/controls of the foreground window, also it doesn't provide any additional information. Anyway, the new window shadows look quite nice. For some more, even bigger / realsize screenshots, look here: http://www.flexbeta.net/main/comments.php?catid=1&shownews=13839[^]

I've never liked transparent windows, I find them incredibly hard to use and counter-intuitive.

Fascinating choice of screenshots, especially the IE ones. The microsoft URL gives a page not found error, and the second contains a banner ads for RedHat and Firefox

I cringe every time I here it called "Classic". To me, it's always looked amateurish and clumsy. At least XP allows you to change the theme; before that we were stuck with it! I don't run Luna either, BTW - my two systems run Eclipse OSX (pulled from the web after Apple threatened to sue) and Aikon XP[^] :) Anna :rose: Riverblade Ltd - Software Consultancy Services Anna's Place | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up. Any interface should be comfortable and/or customizable. There is no such thing as idiot proof as we all know, nature wins every year at providing more idiots to compete with. However, regardless of competition from nature, we don't give up improving software. I am neither defending or attacking Microsoft, but first impressions are important. I do real-world 3D information, I've spent the last 10 years working toward more and more realistic looking presentation of information. To the point that people get angry because it is getting "too real." What is "too real?" is that kind of like "640k" mythic quotes in a modern setting? or is that like the quote from Amadeus, "too many notes." The software will be judged on function, once function can be evaluated (it goes on sale) for the average user. Until then it will be evaluated only on UI whether the practice is good or bad. Once in the hands of a user, it will be evaluated a 2nd time on first impression which is 95% UI and 5% function. As use of the product increases the balance between appearance and function will be more balanced, but will always start from an imbalanced state of preference towards UI appearance. Form and Function are equally important in the long run, but in the short run, Form wins almost everytime. That is just the way the business works, we may not like it, but we live with it. I will hold off judgement of longhorn until it goes gold. But it will be Form and Function under the magnifying glass. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau.
