Does anyone else find it ironic that Windows Genuine Advantage folks were forced to supply their own hack, named GenuineCheck.exe, because their verification process uses ActiveX, a known security exposure. * DISCLAIMER * We do not encourage anybody to use this. This is only a proof of concept. This is not a crack, no reverse enginnering has been used and no animal has been hurt. Only tools provided by Microsoft are involved. http://www.sinhack.net/GenuineAdvantage/[^] As the saying goes; "There is more than one way to skin a cat". Things keep getting curiouser and curiouser! http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/default.mspx?displaylang=en[^] Don't shoot! I'm only the piano player messenger. Beatress

HI..i run a .NET Cracking community on some website for sake of learning and making ur apps less prune to cracking. someone posted this interesting way to bypass the genuine check .. it last worked on 9 august 2005.. and have not been tested again.. Microsoft "Genuine Advantage" cracked in 24h: window.g_sDisableWGACheck='all' AV sez, "This week, Microsoft started requiring users to verifiy their serial number before using Windows Update. This effort to force users to either buy XP or tell them where you got the illegal copy is called 'Genuine Advantage.' It was cracked within 24 hours." Before pressing 'Custom' or 'Express' buttons paste this text to the address bar and press enter: javascript:void(window.g_sDisableWGACheck='all') It turns off the trigger for the key check. I knew about the java script that you mentioned does not work anymore. I did not want to post it on a public forum. As it turns out someone else did. There is an old saying, "Information wants to be free". You mentioned an easier way. I will have to think about this because I love a good mystery. Don't shoot! I'm only the piano player messenger. I had to laugh also when I realized that they succeeded in shooting themselves in the foot again. As the disclaimer on the web site said; "This is not a crack, no reverse engineering has been used and no animal has been hurt. Only tools provided by Microsoft are involved." Don't shoot!
