I had an r/c plane. I last saw it as a dot in the sky, about a thousand feet up heading in the same direction as the wind! It really is harder than it looks. Those guys make it look so easy. I loved the bit where they went vertical and started spinning. Very cool. I wonder how many they've smashed to bits before they perfected that move!

Wow! Pretty amazing flying too. Shame it's not available yet. Although I would probably crash and burn on the first flight.:sigh: Now, where do I get a 'trainer' plane - so that I'm ready for when they're on sale? Any suggestions for a good starter RC plane?

For a starter, get one of the GWS polystyrene electric slow-fly models. Aim for a model with a high wing, and a good amount of dihedral. The E-Starter is a good first model: here. I'd avoid Li-Pol batteries. They're dangerous. To learn to fly you could really use an experienced pilot to buddy with. You can link TXes and the experienced pilot can take over from you if you get into difficulty. Do not fly when there are a lot of people around, and if you fly an IC model, only do it at a proper model plane field. I have a slope-soarer glider, a GWS funny park, an IC model called the magician (low wing sports model), and a hirobo shuttle 30-sized helicopter, and a Pico indoor heli. All good fun. Jon
