Barak Manos wrote: Why was my article moved to purgatory? I looked at all four, and they all could use some work to be "up to snuff". 1. Use CP's standard formatting for your text. The thing that makes CP work so well is that each article complies with a unified look and feel. This makes it very easy on the reader because they know what to expect. 2. Your topics are very interesting. Some of them have already been written about before though, such as "convert number to text". What are you contributing that is unique to what others have already written about? 3. Check out last week's survey. People like to see code examples. It isn't enough to just say "here's something I did". Show the relevant portions of the code and describe what it does, any special techniques you've used, etc. 4. All of your articles can benefit from some unit testing code, so that the reader has some confidence level that what you wrote is actually going to work. Especially concerning encoders/decoders, binary heaps, and unlimited size integers. 5. Write a demo app that illustrates how to use your code, with a screenshot. I hope that helps. Keep working at it. Your articles sound very interesting! Marc My website Traceract -- modified at 10:15 Sunday 4th September, 2005

Thank you for the email that you sent me. As a rule I don't accept off forum responses and normally just delete them. However, as you seemed to be addressing more than just me I thought I'd paste what you wrote so that the other people you were addressing have the opportunity to respond. You have now guaranteed '1' votes from now until the forseeable future. I do so despise people that ask "what did I do wrong" or "why is this happening" and then can't take the criticism that follows. Yeah it hurts, but if you can't take the pain, then don't ask!!! Everyone here has been very constructive and helpful, and that email is totally out of the ballpark. Sigh. Marc My website Traceract

Your "articles" suck -- that's why. Both in terms of content and formatting. Go back to school you pea-brain! Or did you ever go? Maybe you grew up in a barn with all the other animals. You got my vote of '1' for all of your "articles". Plus, your attitude sucks and needs serious adjusting. If you were present I'd give you a swift hard kick in the ass. You need some serious psychological and social counseling. Get a clue! Get a life! Go to school!

Because many people decided your article is way below code project standards, and voted it down. If this happens, your article is mvoed to the "purgatory" section automatically. In CP speak, "purgatory" means your aticle is so bad it should be deleted, but there might be a grain of use to it. This gives you the chance to improve the article. In General Speak, Purgatory is a place where you definitely don't want to be, but you have a chance to make it through cleansed. In Christian Mythology, Purgatory is where souls go whose previous owners have declared "my bad, I'm sorry for my sins", but haven't done anything to make up for this. On your articles: You have submitted 4 articles which are way below CodeProject standards. CP is not a code repository, but a colleciton of articles, that explainin a concept, a particular solution, an idea, or a cool application. My suggestion to article posters, esp. to new ones is: Make the article as good as you possibly can make it with your current skills. Read other articles to get a "feeling" for writing one. Maybe you should bundle your efforts, submit one article of good quality. The topics you adress are definitely interesting to beginners and intermediates, but they lack content.

Thank you for the email that you sent me. As a rule I don't accept off forum responses and normally just delete them. However, as you seemed to be addressing more than just me I thought I'd paste what you wrote so that the other people you were addressing have the opportunity to respond. I've looked it up in the dictionary, and it mentioned roughly the same things you did (including the religious aspect of it). There's one thing, however, that puzzles me (which you mentioned) - only 2 or 3 people have voted to it, so how could it be that "many people decided" my "article is way below code project standards"? Making a long story short: To all of you vowchers, hyeenas and other scavangers (pardon my spelling regarding the last two carnivors), I hope you drown in your own digital [sick] - yeah, I'm talking about that [jobby] that comes out of you whenever you see someone else's code. Get off your [donkeys] for a little while, go outside and have a walk or something, I don't know. Stop taking out your frustrations on other people. The fact that you are constantly being abused for your computer nerdi-ness dosen't mean other people have to take your [jobbies]. Keep it in your own pants.
