What I've read of your work shows more than adequate professionalism, and given the universe of knowledge available to you via the Internet, there's no reason that you can't hone your skills from anywhere you happen to be. For such a young man, I think you have accomplished much, and I admire your dedication to become more. Do you ever wonder why some of us disappear from CP once in a while? We go crazy too, but prefer not to expose our respected peers to our temporary state. Some mornings it's just not worth the effort to gnaw through the leather ties.

Can you imagine life without :- (1) a car for each grown up in the family (2) more than one computer in the house (3) DSL/Cable/T1/T3 (4) having visited a foreign country (5) a credit card with a decent credit limit (6) centralized air conditioning (7) air travel (8) DVD movies The list is only partial, quite partial as a matter of fact... The four choices (1)fix your environment (2)move (3)learn to like your environment (4)do nothing and grumble I'll do (2) first. By then I'd automatically do (3). Then I'd come back and do (1) And while I am at (1)(2)(3) I'll idle myself in (4) once in a while. Good priorities, Nish. Avoid the impossible, do what you can for yourself, take your new abilities and apply them in a way that might help where you came from, then rest on the seventh day. I think there's hope for you, lad!

Everyone dreams. Everyone. Even someone as pitiable and scornful as a 3rd wordler. I dream too. Dreaming is easy. Then what is it that separates a few. That makes some people stand out. Well that’s something too. Its called realization of dreams. Will I realize my dreams? Will I ever achieve what I wanted to achieve ever since I was old enough to say my name? Or will I suffer the same fate as any other 3rd worlder? I know some Indians are successful in life. But these are the elite and rich upper class. They have the money power to get them out of India. What about me? I can imagine myself born in a developed place. I believe that if I was born in some computer aware place, say SF, I’d have conquered my dreams by now. I’d have got an exposure which is only fantasy now to me. I’d have been rich and successful and contended. Why has fortune been cruel to me? It’s particularly painful to me. Simply because I was not destined thus, to be a piece of crap in a world of nothingness. But there is hope, as is always so. I don’t remember who it was who said that, but to hope is to live. And so it shall be with me. I shall strive to cross the abominabilities thrust upon me by my 3rd world nationality and I shall conquer. And you shall all be witness to that. The 3rd worlder who dared to dream and conquer his dream. That will be me – Nish. CPUA # 0x0666 Sonork ID 100.9786 voidmain www.busterboy.org

I have to defend Stan, Nish. Most of us in the US are geographical morons. We're taught world geography, but with the unstated but obvious footnote that it isn't very important; pass the course and forget it. An unfortunate situation, but being involved with this group is helping me to overcome the handicap. I've actually spent some time on the Trivandrum promotional website, learned approximately where it is, and viewed the hotel listing. Singular. No competition. It is trying hard to promote itself as a technology center, and I think that's great. With people like you to draw upon, they should do well. But is that any reason for you to stick around and wait for it to happen? No.

As a matter of fact, I have lived that life. Yes, I can imagine it, and it's not pleasant. If you read my earliest threads, you know that in the past ten years I have had to rebuild my life totally from scratch. It's been a grim journey, and it's nowhere near complete. But here it can be done. I doubt that such opportunity is available to you there, my friend, and I am sympathetic to your cause. I wish you well on your journey, and I think you have what it takes to make it happen. Go to it! PS - Pass on SF. It sucks...

They all run together up there - it's all uniformly awful - wall-to-wall people. You've gotten enough of that overcrowding crap where you are. Try some wide open space for a change; you'll never be able to understand how anyone can live in a city after you've lived outside of one for a time.

Hmmm, dunno what to think about your dream Nish. I think you can do a whole lot more right where you are. I've never quite understood "thirdworlders" fascination with living in the West. I'm in Africa and I'm staying right here, hopefully I can make a small difference. That's MY dream. So I must say with all due respect that when you say fortune has been cruel to you, well it hurts a little. You have food in your stomach and a roof over your head. I think you should be just a little more grateful for that. Millions of people have neither where I come from and indeed where YOU come from. But maybe all this is redundant because I suppose you COULD go to SF and be able to help out more as a result. But if it never happens, don't be so hard on yourself, you have alot to be thankful for, trust me. :-) Good luck!! Regards Senkwe Just another wannabe code junky
