Evening folks. Well my bags are... ok they are not even half packed... but my tickets are booked and my work permit arranged and I am off to Ireland tomorrow evening (the 22nd.) Brian of Delahunty fame is picking me up in Dublin (never been there) to take me down to Waterford where I will be enjoying the next year or so of life. Any other Irish CPians I'll be bumping into? And those who have been there; What to do? What to see? What to drink? regards, Paul Watson South Africa Colib and ilikecameras. Well, if I can get myself organized sometime over the next year, I'll try and get over to Ireland and we can have a CPian get-together. Michael CP Blog [^] Development Blog [^]

I'm in Ireland but not of Ireland. Don't forget your camera - Ireland (and especially Waterford) is very scenic. Although Waterford is in the "sunny south east" it will be wet (and cold) when you get here - at least until may. Rain gear is recomended. Waterford is hurling mad and I'd recommend you try and go to see a game or two of this extraordinary sport. Don't allow yourself to be talked into playing though, even in a knock around game, - you'll end up with no teeth :omg: '--8<------------------------ Ex Datis: Duncan Jones Merrion Computing Ltd

Don't tell him that. I have two hurleys and a sliothar (a.k.a. hurling ball) in the boot of my car and he's not getting a lift home from the airport until he agrees to have a tap around.

The Girls, the pubs, the guiness? (Sorry, kid-sister-police) OK, visit ONE castle (all of them are built after the same master plan it seemed to me, so it gets a little bit boring). Just soak in the culture of small towns, pubbing, strolls in the foggy swamps, etc. Visit a Distillery (I've been at Bushmills, and my friends still enjoy telling silly stories about me and the Whiskey trial which I cannot possibly remember). Kilkenny was just lovely with it's mile of pubs. The Giant's Stones (or how they are called) were cool, but mostly anything about Irelands coast is fine. Oh, and check out some graveyards if you are into that. They are really beautifully made. You are taking Carine with you? Don't forget to upload some pictures

This is probably too late - I've been away for a couple of days - to say have a great journey. So I'll say I hope to see you some time. I've never been to Ireland and I might pop over for a few days sometime. No doubt, I'll see you back here on Code Project before then.

Any other Irish CPians I'll be bumping into?

Well, if I can get myself organized sometime over the next year, I'll try and get over to Ireland and we can have a CPian get-together. Michael CP Blog [^] Development Blog [^]

I'll be visiting London, Liverpool and Tiverton in the next year at least so if you are in any of those areas we can catch a pint or two. regards, Paul Watson South Africa Colib and ilikecameras. My fiance is so jealous! :-D That's one of her destinations on her list of future vacations. Myself, I can't stand Guinness... :( Is the love interest goin' with you? RageInTheMachine9532 "...a pungent, ghastly, stinky piece of cheese!" -- The Roaming Gnome

No, Carine is staying back in South Africa. We aren't going to have a long distance relationship, so good friends from now on. regards, Paul Watson South Africa Colib and ilikecameras. K(arl) wrote: oh, and BTW, CHRISTIAN ISN'T A PARADOX, HE IS A TASMANIAN!

This is probably too late - I've been away for a couple of days - to say have a great journey. So I'll say I hope to see you some time. I've never been to Ireland and I might pop over for a few days sometime. No doubt, I'll see you back here on Code Project before then.

Thanks Colin. I have landed safe and sound and am now at Brian's place in Waterford. I'll be wanting to revisit Scotland while I am here. I will definitely make it for the next Edinburgh Festival. regards, Paul Watson South Africa Colib and ilikecameras. K(arl) wrote: oh, and BTW, CHRISTIAN ISN'T A PARADOX, HE IS A TASMANIAN!
