Frame packs keep the weight off your back (it doesn't rest across your back, well it does) instead they use a metal, alloy or plastic frame to distribute the load to uniform places typically shoulders and hips. A regular shoulder pack can handle about 20 pounds comfortably. Frame packs can take up to 100+ pounds. It's a great way to add a lot of burn to what you are doing. If you can get uneven terrain then you'll be miserable in no time. It's great to get out that way too. Nice to see the sky, smell the earth and generally bust yourself. - Rex

Yeah this might be a good idea to hike through Central Park with. The park near us, and our whole area, is almost completely flat. But Central Park has a number of rises and trails that would do the trick, or at least better than nothing. ¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire! Is this something that could be purchased on ebay (i.e. is it likely to fall apart quickly)? $2-300 is a tad more than I can justify for something that just gonna be used to work out. ¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire! Gosh, I'm thinking $50 or so. If you have an Army/Navy surplus check there to. You can get "internal" frame packs from a sporting goods store pretty cheap. I've got a Kelty that I picked up years ago for $70 and I know they've come down since then.

Price matters most. Internal frame should be able to hang with 50 pounds or so. Check the weight rating on the pack. I think internal frame is a *wad* cheaper so that's the way I'd go.

Yeah I see a whole slew of entries on ebay for both. And a hell of a lot cheaper than REI :) I can't believe I'm even considering this - I can just imagine the look on my wife's face when I go tromping out the door, back-pack slung on my back, on the way to the subway :) ¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire! It's obviously an acronym. The pack itself is used in 1000 different configurations and that's the idea... This should cover your questions...[^]

I couldn't find a carry weight rating for it. Google for K-CLIFFS and see what it's capacity/weight is. It's a 3500CI for volume but don't know it's load bearing...

That's right - 100 push-ups - 5 sets of the following 25x twist sit-ups 15x crunches with legs held out at 45-60 degree angle 15x leg-ups (don't what you call it - lay on back and alternate raising legs up but never let them touch the ground on thewya down) 20x push-up no breaks between different exercises, and next to no break between sets. all accompianed by Van Halen's 1984 album. And now I can barely move my arms -ouch :) [edit] I should put this in perspective, and why I am kind of excited. I started exercising seriously again this past June, after almost 12 years of little to no exercise. When I started in JUne I could barely do 5 push-ups. And even when I was in shape for cycling/running I could never (or never made myself) do 100 push-ups. So I am kind of pleased :) ¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire! Good job, man! I just started back up again with exercising. I was kickboxing during the beginning of the year until it was too nice outside and I lost motivation to go to class. I bought a heavy bag and have been going at that and doing some cycling and running. I'd be interested to see how many push-ups i can do. I'm guessing only around 50 right now. I'll try tomorrow. I'm sore, but feel great! 7 more pounds and I'll officially be just overweight, instead of obese. BW

I find that hard to believe, dear - you're so very slim, and quite muscular (in a petite way). Maybe if you shot pool with a heavier stick...;) "...a photo album is like Life, but flat and stuck to pages." - Shog9

nice work man! I've just started exercising after a long layoff from it myself. One thing I've noticed is that my mind feels more clear even though it's my body that is getting stronger. Go figure.

Sounds like you are almost ready[^].... I've got about 175lbs left to go before I try, but 25% there. My friend talked me into attempting if I can loose enough to reach my goal weight. Yeah I've noticed that too. I have glasses that I wear, they're a mild prescription, but I found wearing them made my eyes feel more relaxed, especially with all the time I spend in front of a monitor. Since I started exercising I just stopped wearing them! I haven't bothered using them since late June. Don't know how strong a correlation there is, but it seemed interesting. ¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire! Real Mentats use only 100% pure, unfooled around with Sapho Juice(tm)! Well despite the exercise, since June I've found time to revamp the main VCF website, add more documentation to both the VCF and the VCF Builder[^], add a bunch of new thread and run loop features to the VCF, add a form designer to the VCF Builder that now allows you to design forms, and recently have started to integrate a C++ parsing engine (based on ANTLR) that can generate AST*s (or generate code from a generic AST), which allows the forms builder to sync the associated C++ file with any changes it may make. S0o I think we're doing OK :) Although I do wish I could full time on it :( * Abstract Syntax Tree ¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire!
