I am in no way defending the act depicted. I am however very suspicious of "evidence" (even that that supports my views) that does not have clear indications of authenticity. It's a lesson I have learned by observing what happened to Bush (who I voted for) and Rumsfeld when they failed to adequately question every bit of "evidence" they had. When we accept any garbage that supports our beliefs, we risk later ridicule (and that makes our beliefs subject to ridicule by association). Islam and Sharia have many aspects that I abhor, but I don't want to try to make that point with possibly fraudulent "evidence", nor should you.

That is a far cry from "Only the CIA could fall for something this obviously faked."

A far cry from "slam dunk"? IMO George Tenet deserves most of the blame for the WMD debacle in Iraq, and mostly for beleiving and advancing "evidence" of the same verifiability as those photos. Absolute faith corrupts as absolutely as absolute power Eric Hoffer All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. Edmund Burke

then you should be more careful making blanket statements about things that don't fit within your little window of interest. no doubt there's something going on in Islamic countries these days that generates terrorists, but there are hundreds and hundreds of million Muslims who aren't terrorists, won't become terrorists and don't support terrorists - and they don't deserve to be stigmatized for the actions of a handful of criminals who cloak themselves in religion, any more than all skinny white conservatives deserve to be stigmatized for the actions of McVeigh, Rudolph and Kopp. Cleek | Image Toolkits | Thumbnail maker

them, not you. Of course all the muslim defenders will find some written drivel to use as rationale. I guess the reality is that they got what they asked for. You want a country run by Islamic radicals then you'll get a country run by Islamic radicals. The sad thing is, I bet this isn't radical in areas governed by sharia. "I'm an Iranian and I've seen these pictures in a report in a local newspaper before. It's not a 'punishment' or anything like that. If it was a punishment they wouldn't put the soft thing under the boy's arm. According to the report, the man in the picture is making a show of the boy's abilities just to make money from the people standing there. This is their everyday activity. Very Very sorrowing." Makes sense. You would think a religious punishment would be a little more traditional, unless the Quran predicts the advent of 4x4s. Of course, the first thing I thought was "Lets nuke the bastards", really must calm down. Ryan

One problem with you logic, the ratio of terrorist in Islam to to other cultures/religions are not the same. So, naming 3 terrorists do not make a equal comparison.

IIRC, the standard punishment for theft under Sharia laws is decapitation of the hand. I've had my foot driven over by a car, and I can't say it hurt very much. I realize that a boy's arm and my foot and toes are different. -- Pictures[^] from my Japan trip.

I'm sorry Mike, but where at all does it say authoritively that anyone in those photos is a Muslim, or even what happened? If you look at the source of the photos, http://web.peykeiran.com/new/default.aspx[^], it says the man in the picture is making a show of the boy's abilities to make money from the crowd. They are street performers. The microphone is a dead givaway. As is the behaviour of the crowd. I've seen something similar over here with a Mini driving right over a man laying in the street. One of the craziest things I've every seen (and yes it did hurt him, *a lot*). But hey, let's not let something like that get in the way of a good collective Muslim bashing! Mob mentality rules!

Well that certainly explains why a bunch of well-educated, middle-class Saudis living in freedom in the US flew those planes into the WTC and Pentagon. "The world is a dangerous place to live, not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it." If you look around you then you will notice that going to an expensive private school does make you intelligent. You learn what your teachers teach you, and if your teachers have an agenda of their own that is what you will learn. Just look at the rabid political opinions that seem to be a part of almost everything south of your own borders. If you mention you wipe your arse with your left hand round here you get Kerry, Bush and Clinton simultaneously shoved up your arse from different angles, and Stan will call you a Liberal for not shitting in the woods like a real man. Middle class, well that is the lowest common denominator for most of the people in the western world. If you work 9 till 5 and are asleep indoors at 3am then you are middle class. I, sadly, know a lot of middle class households who are living below the poverty line. Maybe not according to the government publicity figures, but if you can't afford the basic foodstuffs each week and heat your home at the same time (if you are lucky enough to have a home with heating) then you are living in poverty. Poverty is about not having the means to pull yourself higher, to raise your standard of living, whether that is with money, socially or physically - not which postcode area you live in. As for oppression, there are many Americans living in freedom in the US who believe they are being oppressed.

Why are you asking me that? Are you trying to ruin that statement's credibility by asking me an irrelevant question, or do you really want to buy some curriculum to see if I am right?
