Just got back from a Microsoft Keynote speach on their new products...and now I have a full version of Visual Studio 2005 Professional, SQL Server 2005 Standard and BizTalk Server 2006 being sent out to me free of charge. Nice to see that Microsoft has replicated in the UK what they did in the States. To many times they forget about us. Just waiting for the postman to arrive now!!

Are these full versions without any time delay, or will they expire in a few months? Brigg Thorp Senior Software Engineer Timex Corporation

Just an FYI and while on the topic of Visual Studio, I noticed that the Express version of Visual Studio is free, for now. They plan on charging $50 eventually, but as of now they are free.

This is like the butcher making the oats for the sheep free. They do this so that we may all be assimilated faster and they can further their world domination. I, however, am also one of the sheep and happy to be so. It beats coding in Java. E=mc2  ->  BOOM

Yes.. this is one of the main reasons I'm gonna attend their event here in Cleveland. Btw.. i'm surprised they're already release BTS 2006 .. they just had 2004. (I know they had 2000, 2002, 2004 I should have forecasted next version being 2006). I just think they should release 2006 as an SP of 2004 as opposed to brand new version. - Malhar

Hmm I wonder if they are going to do the same thing at my session this Thursday? They had originally said it was going to be the pro version then recanted and said it that announcement was a mistake and it was only the standard version. I wonder if they are going to make good after all.

I went to the launch yesterday in San Francisco, and I just wrote a long-winded blog post[^] about it. Summary is, I had fun, but was a bit disappointed at the lack of enthusiasm of the crowd, the dryness of many of the speakers, and the way they pushed BizTalk 2006 as if you can't use Visual Studio nor program a website without it.
