I'm simply unaware of any process that spontaniously generates fossil fuel. I mean, there were only so many fossils, so it would follow that there is only so much oil. Or, are you suggesting that the source of the oil is something else? I've heard many such theories, but I don't believe most of them are widely accepted in the geological community. For example, there is a theory that the source of oil was really organic compounds such as methane trapped in the crust of the earth as it formed originally from the disk of debry the solar system formed from. If that is true, there may, in fact, be far more oil buried very deeply than we have as yet discovered. "Patriotism is the first refuge of a patriot."

Maybe you didnt get what I was saying, read the whole post. And who said I was happy because I'm doing well? I was just as happy when I was poor and in college. And BTW, I want everyone to be rich and be happy. If your country was wealthy and doing well, I would be very happy for you. Recent polls say that Americans are more happy than Europeans. I dont know if that is true, but I know how I feel. You need to quite worrying about other poeple's wealth and start worrying about your own situation. I hope you strike it rich whereever you are, I would truly be happy for you.
I did read the whole post and you sounded like a spoiled child. I live in Sydney, one of the worlds most beautiful and livable cities. I am not worried about your wealth or lack there of. Striking it rich is not my aim, I am comfortable and happy and I work hard for what I have. Thats the Australian way.

Or wants to be. Why was the oil ministry protected in the earky days in Baghdad, and the Museum not? Because you couldnt give a sh*t about the antiquity in Iraq, just the oil. You want to control it, so badly, you are willing to kill 20 thousand plus civilians to do so.
Or wants to be? You still have provided no proof. The Oil industry is vital to the economy of the Iraqi people. The museum is not. And sice we have protected the Oil Industry, The Iraqi's have a infrustructure they can work with. Now, how about some proof we are stealing or selling oil to ourselves, nice try.

Well in the Dulfer report we know he was working to get the bomb. All he needs is one day to be alive to use a bomb. Even if he did have 7 years left, it was 7 years too long. In 1 second the million people can die in a bomb. Who knows, he may have had longer, I've heard that Castro would die any day now, 10 years ago.

More like vital to the US. Why has Bush pushed ahead plans to open oil fields in a protected part of Alaska? Because with an anti US PM in Venezuela your oil supplies are no longer gauranteed. That is also why Bush tried to get Chavez out and a pro US government in.
kgaddy wrote:

If the situation ever goes the way the US wants it you will see the proof. But lets face it, the threat of oil being sold in euros scares the shit out of you because rather than print paper to buy oil, you have to export to europe to buy oil.

So what. What were his chances of actually getting it. Very very slim. SLim to the point of zero. You know most of your inteligence came from Iraqi 'scientists', whose information was channeled through Chalabi? Well he doctored that information to get you to invade Iraq and put him in power fo a pro US government that would continue to sell oil in dollars.

No I stated that a pro US government might welll have taken control of Iraq in the next 7 years. I didnt suggest Sadam might become a 'good guy' (whatever that means to the US). In fact I stated he would die, either of natural causes, or in a coup d'etat. Nunc est bibendum

OK, I see what you mean now. However, as Brian indicated, the notion that the process can keep up with our exploitation of it is a bit of a stretch. Oil is certainly a limited resource. And even if there is a lot more of it out there than we have yet discovered, all the easily discovered, easily extracted and easily refined oil is long gone. The harder it becomes to find it, extract it and refine it the more expensive it will become. So simple logic dictates that we really do need to begin looking into alternative fuels, which I think will happen naturally as those alternatives become economically competitive with oil. "Patriotism is the first refuge of a patriot."

I really want to someday. I want to dive on that big reef you guys have. How come the gun ban is not having the desired effect? OBSERVABLE FACT AFTER 12 MONTHS OF DATA * Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2%. * Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6%. * Australia-wide, armed-robberies are up 44%. (yes, FORTY-FOUR PERCENT) * In the state of Victoria, homicides-with-firearms are up 300%! * The steady decrease in homicides-with-firearms that occurred during the previous 25 years became an increase in the last 12 months. * The steady decrease in armed-robbery-with-firearms that occurred during the previous 25 years became an increase in the last 12 months. * There has been a dramatic increase in breakins-and-assaults-of-the-elderly. * At the time of the ban, the Prime Minister said "self-defense is not a reason for owning a firearm". * From 1910 to present, homicides in Australia have averaged about 1.8-per-100,000 or lower, a safe society by any standard. * The ban has destroyed Australia's standings in some international sport shooting competitions. * The membership of the Australian Sports Shooting Association has increased by 200% in response to the ban and in an attempt to organize against further controls, which are expected. * Australian politicians are on the spot and at a loss to explain why no improvement in "safety" has been observed after such monumental effort and expense was successfully expended in "ridding society of guns". Their response has been to "wait longer".

I don't think it could either. But we don't know where all the oil is. New sources are discovered at varying depths. We are sitting on quite a bit in Texas but the only time they drill is when oil prices are high because the 'costs' here are so much more than in the middle east. The supply is going to last a while which makes me believe that pushing for alternatives is going to take longer than most would like. But at least there is a push! I may not see it in my lifetime but eventually it will come. I'm hoping for something like the transporter from StarTrek! Make traffic jams obsolete! ed ~"Watch your thoughts; they become your words.
