This is the thing about organization of posts here. There's no way to bump a post back up and the replies don't notify everyone in the topic only the person you reply to. Hence me title with a play on "how low can I go" as I feel like this is semi-spam. So if you perceive it as spam I apologize *WAY* up-front. However you are my peers and quite honestly a very fine group of people who opinions I actually value pretty highly. (Read that as a compliment, I'm not always the best with wording.) So here is ROUND II. My wife suggested dumping the egg/rock and going for a wireframe and Jed also took a lot of the other feedback to heart so feel free to critique again. My first impressions are that I really like it. It stayed the same but it's subtley different to. Most importantly John Simmons suggestion was brought to life. I like it both ways. Be curious to see what he thinks and others who also agreed with him. I've gotten some interest emails from people wondering how expensive Jed is. I think his rates are incredibly good. I send any work I can his way because he's great to work with. If you want feel free to contact him directly with questions and just reference his work on my logo as a starting point. His email is jedREMOVEsplitREMOVE@hotmailREMOVE.com I think he'd be happy to answer questions and provide the same type of service if you are interested. I'm just really obsessed with globes (because of recent logo competition for one project I'm involved into) plus the idea of replacing O with the globe looks damn nice. Not really original but still nice. -------------------------------- Human stupidity is infinite.

It's not the logos that I don't like. I know that this is a matter of personal taste too, but have you considered changing the name "Code-Frog"? Why a frog? As much as the frog looking left seems "looking to the past", a frog doesn't relate to anything good in programming, IMHO. Your nick name in CP could continue as that, though... :) From the Churchdown Parish Magazine: "Would the Congregation please note that the bowl at the back of the Church, labelled 'For The Sick,' is for monetary donations only."

Ok, I've never been good at these games but don't #8 and #9 look like the same thing? At any rate I say #9 definitely. ------------------------------------- Do not do what has already been done. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.. but it ROCKS absolutely, too.

Well, there's a longer answer to that than you might think. The frog ties into some other things and it really does fit. Maybe not from a programming standpoint but when you really think about even if I was "Stack Heap Push" software how many people walking around that are not programmers will know or care? I thought about using programming in the name and ultimately I just decided that I'd identify with a bit of who I am and be a bit Generic in the name. There's literally 1000's of businesses and names that have zero corolation... SonicWALL - Firewall company. What does sound have to do with it? Microsoft - Admittedly it's household now but at the time Micro and Soft were pretty disjoint. Fabric softener maybe? Oracle - Reference Oracle and tell me what that has to do with databases? There's a bajillion names that are just the guys name or a construct of it: Linux - Linus Torvalds and Unix. They picked a penguin. Hmmmm... Intel - Now wait just a second. You working with Langley or the DOD why intel? I can go on and on. Ultimately, I wanted to something that would make people stop and reflect. If you see "Softwire" or "Netstone" or "Netegrity" or a million other plays on words you injest it as "technical" and that's all you remember. I wanted my choice of name to be puzzling and I wanted it to make people ask. Aside from that I think the name doesn't make you, you make the name. In my town my name is being made. I'd consider rebranding if things were not going so well but right now it's pretty apparent that so far all my decisions are adding up on the right side of the balance sheet.

Everyone's saying 9, but I'd shrink 6 down first, and see what it will look like as a header. In my opinion, the smaller version of 9 gets a little too small in the text, and I think the fact that the frog doesn't pop out as much on 6 would enable the text of 6 to be a little bigger and more legible. On top of that, on your 'fun' days, #6 would be more balanced when you stuck it's tongue out over the logo, and caught a purple fly!

#9 definately maybe try the globe with the darker gridding from #1 good work and I like your reasoning in other post as to why code-frog. Good thinking.

Oh. I just figured out what was really bugging me about the small version of 9. I had the impresson that something was fuzzy, and that's why I said the text was a little small. The real problem is that the lines in the globe appear to fuzz, because of the shade of gray and the thickness of the lines. That makes the whole thing come off a little flat to me. The outline on the words might also be made a little darker, to improve it. But the full-size version doesn't have those problems as much. (DO NOT look at my site, to judge my graphics skills, though :) !)

I agree. I only pointed it because in Brazil, a frog is often a symbol for something ugly, stupid and lazy (it just sits there the whole day). "Ugly as a frog", "Stupid as a frog", and "Lazy as a frog" are commonplace here. Maybe it's one of those cultural differences, and, in other countries that image is not the same. I wish you luck, though, I know how hard you work and you deserve success in your venture. Just don't forget, when your multi-million company starts spreading throughout the world, that a frog may project other images :-D From the Churchdown Parish Magazine: "Would the Congregation please note that the bowl at the back of the Church, labelled 'For The Sick,' is for monetary donations only."

I'll have to go with 8 with minor modifications. Now the difference between 8 and 9 is the border of the globe. When made small the border is too sharp. I think it will look pretty col, at least in a small version: 8 if the lines of the globe would be the same color as the border of the globe on 9. I'm not much of a designer but this way the globe will be fuzzy, and add some kind of mystery to whether that's a globe or something else. There will be no problem being uninteligible because the frog practically says the word. regards, Mircea Many people spend their life going to sleep when they’re not sleepy and waking up while they still are.

I like #9 also, though I would keep the System Architect in all black, especially when it's smaller. I think more like it is on #2 would make it cleaner and easier to read. Also, the letter spacing looks too wide in CODE once you add the globe as the "O". It might be an illusion, but the F and R appear closer than the letters in CODE. Otherwise, I think it looks great. BW
