Smitha Vijayan wrote: And there is another thing. People here have wrong ideas abt western countries as well. Very true. Most people here think that western familes don't show any attachment towards each other and that they don't value family ties etc. I was quite surprised on a few occasions initially, when I found westerners showing love/affection towards grandparents, uncles etc which I thought was a purely eastern thing. Some surprises are nice :) Nish

I'm a non vegetarian too. That's why I've worn it off and on last five years. Some people warned me about wearing it and being careless about your food habits. I slackened after awhile (a few months of wearing it) and then I broke my hand ! They were probably mutually exclusive events. I was in college at that time in a remote place (Pilani in Rajasthan) and I got screwed with poor treatment and wearing the cast in all that heat and all. Nowadays if I ever wear it I wear it for a period of time like two months during which I'm careful about my habits. Since you sound like you care about it .. I'd say removing it only during meals is not a good idea. I'd rather just keep it in your pooja room or something. Just removing the mala during meals is certianly a bad idea. So I think as you do, I'd rather have good food habits while I wear it. Smitha Every problem has a gift for you in its hands. -- Richard Bach
