I LOVE Windows Media Player 9 so when I saw that 10 was out I instantly downloaded it. PURE C%^P! Every file I launch it starts playing and then freezes up. The file still plays but the UI goes cold and I have to kill it in task manager. Even if I just open Media Player itsefl with no file the UI locks dead and I have to kill it. Revert back to 9 and things work fine. Hmmmmmm....

For me the same. But why using WMP? take a look on Winamp or on opensource players at sourceforge.

Windows Media Player... I just use version 6.4 (The one that comes with Windows 2K). For playing my media I always use WinAmp... but not the new AOL-ed one (arh!) the trusty old 2.9 version.

That sounds like you have a bad codec (audio with no video is a common problem when you play a DivX movie but don't have the DivX codec). If you had any 3rd-party codecs with WMP 9, I'd reinstall them after installing WMP 10. --Mike-- LINKS~! Ericahist | 1ClickPicGrabber | CP SearchBar v2.0.2 | C++ Forum FAQ | You Are Dumb

Had the same problem: played the first 2 seconds of the file, then the video froze, and clicking anywhere did nothing, then then after 20 seconds, it became responsive again. Back to WMP9 i went. The kindest thing you can do for a stupid person, and for the gene pool, is to let him expire of his own dumb choices.
