Well, what did everyone think of it? I think it's going to be a good series, but... 1) The cheesy theme song has to go. 2) The soft porn was unneccesary (where T'Pol and Tucker were in the decontamination room). It would have been a better scene if T'Pol had simply started stripping off her clothes and expecting Tucker not to react. 3) Blalock (T'Pol) doesn't seem to be into the role as a Vulcan (yet). When the little dog started humping her leg, she almost smiled. 4) The other Vulcans seem to be walking around with a look of surprise on their faces. I think they were trying to appear to be aloof, but they looked surprised that they're being payed to simply walk around with pointy ears glued to their heads and look surprised. 5) I don't think that StarFleet would put them on an extended mission after their first battle in space where they received any type of damage. It's a brand new ship (and the only one they have), and I'm sure they'd like to look it over for ways to improve the design. I also don't think the crew would have the capability of effecting extensive repairs without visiting a yet-to-be-built starbase.

I think the series is going to be really good. As far as any continuity problems with the other series, I don't really care about all that. It's not like the rest of the series do not have continuity problems that the geeks argue about to no end. I thought it was a nice touch that the hospital on earth had a manual door on it instead of an automated one. It gives the retro feel to it. There is mention of the Romulans and Vulcans being from the same race, with the Vulcans rejecting emotion. I'm wondering if the Vulcans in the series do not have complete control yet ( The guy raising his voice, and T'Pol showing emotion several times ). The theme song sucks greatly. I was looking forward to yet another good theme song and was totally dissapointed. I just can't imagine listening to this for the rest of the series. I also like the fact that the crew doesn't completely trust anything on the ship. Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness. Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in it to make him stumble -- 1 John 1:9-10

I thought it was very good. My complaints: 1) The cheesy theme song has to go. 2) The cheesy theme song has to go. 3) The cheesy theme song has to go. 4) Broken Bow, Oklahoma looks nothing like that. 5) The Klingon home world is only 4 days from Earth at Warp 4! God help us! 6) If the Galaxy is as heavily populated as that, why the heck isn't SETI picking up anything? 7) The soft porn and some of the language does not bode well. I've always enjoyed watching Star Trek with my kids. I'd hate to have to start pre-screening it before I let them watch. "I never met anyone I didn't like" Will Rogers.

Well, as far as the vulcans go. You must realize that at this point in uhhh... history? The Vulcans view humans in contempt, as inferior beings. While that attitude largely persists even in uhhh.. modern? Vulcans, they at least respect humans, even if they find them illogical and lacking self-control. Further, Vulcans have always had a lot less control over their emotions than they proclaim. And, a truly emotionless character is pretty boring. Even Data had "emotions" of a sort. So, to have Vulcans treat humans with contempt is understandable. At least at this stage of the star trek timeline.

I think it is because the Constitution mentions guns. Which leads to shooting the shit out of people. No where does it mention sex or porn. :-D Michael Martin Pegasystems Pty Ltd Australia martm@pegasystems.com +61 413-004-018 "Don't belong. Never join. Think for yourself. Peace" - Victor Stone

Fair point, Uwe. Yet, for example, I never let my children play violent video games. If the game involves shooting or otherwise killing individual characters - it does not get played in my house. Furthermore, I *did* watch that scene in 'Enterprise' last night with my 12 year old son, and we had a good laugh over it. No harm done. However, as an American of Southern heritage, I am not, in general, culturally predisposed to be offended by displays of violence, and I do not beleive that violence in and of itself is, in any shape form or fashion, immoral. There is certianly such a thing as "moral violence". Yet, even though I am not a person of great religious sentiment, I *am* culturally predisposed to believe that sexual behavior is only moral when it occurs between a married heterosexual couple in the privacy of thier own bedroom without camaras rolling and displaying the activity to my children. In otherwords, I *want* my children to understand the concept of violence for a moral purpose as well as understanding that promiscuous sexual behavior is never moral within the context of our culture and its codes of ethics. Lastly, I think to say "you Americans" is a rather broad generalization and is not generally characteristic on an enlightened mind. I mean, to imply that we Americans all adher to some kind of common moral mantra, as one might expect, say, of Marxist or Muslims, is rather narrow minded I should think. :rose: "I never met anyone I didn't like" Will Rogers.

I wouldn't go so far as to call me a "trekkie". I like to watch the shows (didn't really care much for the original series or DS9), but I don't collect star trek stuff (uniforms, props, magazines, etc), have never been to a convention (nor had a desire to do so), and have never wished to get to know Jeri Ryan nor Jolene Blalock beyond providing them with a healthy dose of looooove gravy. For the record, the "klingon warblade" is called a "batleth" (sp?). At least get your nomenclature right. :)

or Eureka! seeing as he was said to have run naked through the streets shouting that very word and was purported to have not been a very violent man either. :-D regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass Cape Town, South Africa "We would accomplish many more things if we did not think of them as impossible." - Chretien Malesherbes

When Next Generation was on, you didn't have to be paying very close attention to find out what the name of that thing was.
