It is midnight here in Kerala. I can see people fleeing along the road in front of my house. There is a warning that within the next hour Kerala coast will be hit powerfully by the tsunami. I live within about 2 kms from the coastline and it would n't be that fun to see the beach on my doorsteps when I wake up tomorrow morning :( Smitha Every problem has a gift for you in its hands. -- Richard Bach

I hope you and your friends and family stay safe. Good that there is some sort of advanced warning. BW

Thanks Brian. The news says the sea water level has risen. And there is also talk that all these are warnings and predictions are a hype to compensate for the absence of them yesterday. This is very much possible because the concerned people are saying things without any scientific basis. I really hope there wouldn't be much casuality. Thanks Peter! I am sure 2 Km is quite a safe distance and there is nothing to worry. I really hope that the poor people living in the cosatline will not have to suffer too much. Smitha Every problem has a gift for you in its hands. -- Richard Bach

The live news now says that the situation is pretty much OK now. The sea water level is coming down slowly. And the inward flow of sea water into rivers has also lessened. Smitha Every problem has a gift for you in its hands. -- Richard Bach

The live news shows indications that it was too alert a warning for all the symptoms observed. But since the warning has been issued already, people are still moving. Good night! Smitha Every problem has a gift for you in its hands. -- Richard Bach

Hope all will be safe. As much as it may be hype, its good to know that at least some information is being provided. Somehow I thought the west coast will be safe.

Given the Indian media, who caught off-guard with earlier Tsunami, this time they are just trying to get more news to people (or scare them? ) with every minute with live information. That's my opinion. Smitha Vijayan wrote: I can see people fleeing along the road in front of my house. The looters are the first ones who take advantage of this situation and spread the rumors, that makes people panic.
