So it can never work as a deterrent, just because it supposedly (all people do not agree) doesnt work in the US? Sure, the retraction part is impossible. So is the resurrection of the innocent people killed by serial murderers. Would you say that collecting tax lowers the society to the level of thieves? I guess the question of death penalty comes down to the issue of what would be a just penalty for the ultimate crime. The deterrent, retraction and society effects are very subjective and can be proven either way depending on mind set. Regards, Björn Morén Stockholm, Sweden

Well, the USA has the worlds highest incidence of murder, so you tell me if it works, or if it just brutalises society. It proves that it's not guarenteed to work. If you believe that somehow killing people differently will have a different effect, that's up to you. bjoernen wrote: Sure, the retraction part is impossible. So is the resurrection of the innocent people killed by serial murderers. This is precisely my point. You want to take the same role as a serial killer, killing almost without discrimination, and happy to kill some innocents so you can have your revenge on the guilty. bjoernen wrote: Would you say that collecting tax lowers the society to the level of thieves? No, I think that speed cameras lower society to the level of thieves. Taxes serve a purpose. bjoernen wrote: The deterrent, retraction and society effects are very subjective and can be proven either way depending on mind set. Yeah, the pro death people can fudge the numbers, I agree. Christian I have several lifelong friends that are New Yorkers but I have always gravitated toward the weirdo's. - Richard Stringer
