Would you like to set up a system like this one[^] in your team, also with some alarms (!?) when bugs are found? :)

Brilliant! There is one thing missing though...a remotely controlled pointing device* mounted on a pivot, and pointed squarely at whoever "broke the build" that particular day.... * One of the "big hands" that Kenny Everett's preacher character used to wear in his TV show on Thames Television would be ideal. Anna :rose: Riverblade Ltd - Software Consultancy Services Anna's Place | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up. It didn't work.

And another device which would look like a human arm and would slap in the face of the person who broke the build thus creating a sense of fear and responsibility among the people. Found on Bash.org I'm going to become rich and famous after i invent a device that allows you to stab people in the face over the internet My Articles

Oh no, why not humiliate the build breaker by making him wear the build breakers hat (in the shape of a dunces hat) for half a day. This was normal protocol at one place I worked at.

Nah... I prefer a more personal touch. Like having a ticked off build manager come over and spill hot coffee in your lap when you break something. Just to let you know that someone cares. The light controller could be cool, though. I'm picturing having a the lights go with a disco strobe effect every time my screen saver goes active. Yeah... I could see that. --Jesse

I hate the build nazi's at work. The problem is that our full build takes 4 hours. So if you change something in one area, even if you run all the units tests and build your area of components, your never %100 sure you didn't break something somewhere else without building 4 hours. :)

I would imagine a Smurf hat would be equally effective. ;) Anna :rose: Riverblade Ltd - Software Consultancy Services Anna's Place | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up. Talk about raised hackles. 'Lean practices' is the latest buzzword to hit where I work. Practically every manufacturing station has a green/yellow/red light tower used to indicate their status. Some moron in the hierarchy above my group had the bright idea that he could do this with the software groups as well. For several months, he took over the software bug management process, trying to shoehorn it into some notion of lean practices. We then ended up spending weeks fixing 'bugs' that were really enhancements that were going to be addressed in future releases anyway, while 5 minute patches languished because we weren't supposed to work on them. Fortunately, the whole thing eventually died out.
