That's news to me - I just thought it was another boring weekday. In the UK Sunday was supposed to be Mother's Day. When I was young I always remembered it to be something of a chore, and it didn't feel special in anyway. It was just "expected". :~ Personally I don't get the "xxxx Day" thing. With my family refusing to acknowledge me, it seems rather pointless. I send cards anyway, but only because I won't give up. One day I'll probably just turn up on their doorstep unannounced and say simply "remember me?". Our pastor made a point of talking about this in the service on Sunday evening, pointing out that with so many of us estranged from our birth families, our Church celebrates Family Day instead...and that all of us should consider each other as family. For me, that rings so true - my friends are my family now. :rose: Anna :rose: Riverblade Ltd - Software Consultancy Services Anna's Place | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up. It didn't work.

That's really sad that your family can't accept what you've gone through. Jeez. I believe I speak for most (if not all) of us when I say Happy Family day from your family here at CP. ;)

I wish I could send you real lovely flowers today as I normally do for my friends, I didn't remember exactly when I started doing this, but I still remember I used to pick up nice flowers in a public park in my hometown to give my girl schoolmates (as I didn't have much money at that time :)). Hopefully, today is a quite special day to you.

And how about a mens day ? Why is it not allowable to point out the ways that our society favours women over men ? Christian I have several lifelong friends that are New Yorkers but I have always gravitated toward the weirdo's. - Richard Stringer

Yep, I'm quite up for "Man's beer drinking, and womanising day". I think there would be a lot of takers.

Feminists would argue there are already 364 mens days per year :) I strongly disagree with that. Of course

Thank you honey :rose: As it turned out it has been a pretty good day today. This morning I had some good news about my kids (which unfortunately I can't share here) and that's made a big difference. :) Anna :rose: Riverblade Ltd - Software Consultancy Services Anna's Place | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up. It's women day ? Does it cost anything ? How many women do we get ? Christian I have several lifelong friends that are New Yorkers but I have always gravitated toward the weirdo's. - Richard Stringer

I'm sorry, no disrespect intended, and I fully sympathize with the difficulty women have in what is primarily a male dominated world, but I have to say, this[^] just strikes me as a totally ridiculous, dumb, waste of time, "event". Like most other "xxx Day" events. I'll go away now. :) Marc MyXaml Advanced Unit Testing YAPO

I can certainly sympathise hun. :rose: When I was married I was really struggling to keep up with my wife's spending (despite being on a very good income by industry standards)...by the time we divorced there was £16,000 worth of debt as a result. It's no fun being married to someone who doesn't understand personal finance. I certainly won't fall into that trap again.
