Hi All, hope your all having a good day. just curious to what GUI libraries any of your are using for your developement projects. i was thinking of diving into :omg: purchasing CJ or GCG :omg:, i need to focus more on the business logic code, than worrying about the eye candy and keeping up with the changing gui's that users want these days. i was also looking at the iron speed RAD pro software for my .net/web development projects, looks pretty cool any thoughts on the above items appreciated. thanks Peter

we use dundas toolkit and grid, most of it work very well, and it comes with the source code, it's usefull to learn a few hints tips from the most obscure places ( mostly toolbars and docking windows ).

As many others I used(!) the MFC toolkit from http://www.bcgsoft.com [^]. Last year, again as many other, I switched to the same-looking-but-much-better-designed (from a code perspective) toolkit from http://www.codejock.com [^]. I strongly recommend the one from CodeJock if you do MFC. -- Affordable Windows-based CMS: www.zeta-producer.com

CodeJock are pretty good, but unfortunately, they don't support WTL, which is what I'm largely using at the moment... Anna :rose: Riverblade Ltd - Software Consultancy Services Anna's Place | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up. Hi Carl, thanks for the link. their site looks very nice (owa 2003), i'm assuming that must be one of their controls. Thanks for the input, Peter

Janus is an excellent toolkit. I also have used Xceed which is a little cheaper. http://www.xceedsoft.com/[^] - Drew

Don't forget www.TheUltimateToolbox.com[^]. These are the Dundas MFC toolkits now selling under their own brand exclusively through CodeProject. cheers, Chris Maunder

Back when I was an MFC developer, I used to use Dundas Ultimate Toolbox. A very good developer resource. Michael CP Blog [^] Development Blog [^]

We use Infragistics netadvantage framework. We make business apps and one of our goals is to make our apps similar in use and appearance to Outlook which it does very well. I would recommend it to anyone, however what you really need to do is demo / trial all the ones recommended first and take as long as possible to try them in a real world situation because you will quickly find all sorts of surprises in any one of them where things are not what you assumed. It's certainly worth the time to spend on it even if it takes a few weeks because in the end your saving thousands of hours of work by using them.

I still use Objective Studio from Stingray, mostly for the grid control. (I have learned about their grid control before I heard of Chris's...) http://www.roguewave.com/products/gui/[^]

I've used quite a few of the GUI products and would wholeheartedly recommend the Dundas Toolkit. **HOWEVER** I will state the following in fairness to you: * The product has many bugs - For the most part, the code is extremly robust and easy to work with. However, there are times when you're going to have to roll up your sleeves and either fix something or create a kludge to get around a design issue. * The documentation is extremely bad - Many of the examples in the docs don't even work. Documentation is definitely an after-thought and very much out of synch with the product. * You can forget support - I was extremely disappointed in this area as I found support to be non-existent. Most of my emails and questions went unanswered so after about 3 weeks I figured that I can't figure it out, it just isn't getting done. Having said that, I look at value as the determining factor. In other words, sure the product isn't perfect, but it costs something like $500 (I got mine with the yearly combination sale) and the simple fact is that despite its shortcomings, you couldn't possibly write even a fraction of what they give you for less than the price of the toolkit. As a result I would definitely recommend it. Cheers, Tom Archer - Archer Consulting Group Programmer Trainer and Mentor and Project Management Consultant

I would say that about 25% of our projects are VC++/MFC projects and we use the Ultimate Toolbox in every one. Cheers, Tom Archer - Archer Consulting Group Programmer Trainer and Mentor and Project Management Consultant

Prof-UIS[^] Excellent price, library (which is growing pretty quickly) and support. I've switched from some of the above mentioned to them. ed ~"Watch your thoughts; they become your words.
