Hi folks, I just installed the .NET beta 2 on my machine, and attempted to start the IDE. All seems well to begin with until, "Updating Help to reflect recent changes..." then BAM an unhandled exception and the whole application shuts down. (followed by one of those annoying bug reports to MS). I have successfully installed the beta on other machines! Just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same problem...I couldn't find anything after searching around on msdn. I am running win2k... I know this is not really the right forum to be posting this, but I figured more folks read this than the .NET forum. Matt ------ Accept that some days you are the pigeon and some days the statue.

Those bug reports are lame. MS shouldn't sell sh1t for hundreds of dollars if its gonna crash all the time. Its better than crashing your system, I guess, but it still happens all the time. Josh Knox Josh@that-guy.net

I had a similar problem after installing beta 1. When I reported the problem to Microsoft's beta group, I was asked to re-install VS.NET without selecting help option. I then re-installed VS.NET (but beta2) and fortunately, help system has been working fine so far. // Fazlul

Thanks for the pointer. I tried reinstalling it all still have the same problem. The I discovered that it is not Visual studio at all just the help system (which auto loaded when you first start VS). Consquently even when I attempt to just browse the help system outside of VS I get an application error. I'll keep trying... ahhh.... the joys of beta products. Matt ------ Accept that some days you are the pigeon and some days the statue.

(followed by one of those annoying bug reports to MS). Why is it annoying? Personally I think it is a bloddy good idea. ________________ David Wulff http://www.davidwulff.co.uk "I loathe people who keep dogs.
