"It's hard being an open source project on the Microsoft platform. Because no matter how hard you try to exemplify true open source ideals, you will not get any respect from the non-Microsoft community.", says Shawn Walker, founder of DotNetNuke CMS. http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Blogs/tabid/825/EntryID/207/Default.aspx[^] Does it matter the opinion of GNU zealots? Code project is a big effort to publish open source for the microsoft related community. ;P Eduardo Diaz site | english blog | spanish blog

I have to say this is what makes Code Project so wonderful and I hope everyone can continue to share their knowledge on this site with others. PC

Respect is given when respect is deserved, and frankly, there's only a few open source projects that I think deserve respect. The rest are just whining. Marc My website Traceract Understanding Simple Data Binding Diary Of A CEO - Preface

And that goes for whatever the platform. I fail to see how what platform the product runs on matters (in terms of whether or not it's a good project). ¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire! Real Mentats use only 100% pure, unfooled around with Sapho Juice(tm)! SELECT * FROM User WHERE Clue > 0 0 rows returned Save an Orange - Use the VCF!

Exactly that! It's not because it's OpenSource it's better or deserve anything! If someone do OpenSource it's his/her responsability. And problem to find out gratification into that as well ;-)

BTW, philosophical debate around what's true open-source are pointless, I believe. IMHO it's like: debate on what should be the real peperoni pizza! Who cares! There is no such things as the "real peperoni pizza", except it should come from the corner shop of my street ;-)

I don't know. I think it was good to bring up the original idea. I learned a few things, and it makes me rethink whether I should call MyXaml open source or not. It doesn't seem like the GPL is "true" open source. Yikes. Did I just say that? Isn't that what everyone else has been saying? Hmmmm. Call me an old dog, I guess. Sorry.. what I meant was. When the GNU people launch the "OpenSource concept" it was cool and useful. When BSD people pointed out that the GNU licence was somewhat restrictive and create their licence, it was cool and useful. When people argue that "that project is not open-source", "only this one is", blahblahblah... It's annoying bigotry. Irking background noise. Who cares if it's "true opensource" or not? What matters is the code quality and my right with it. If I have full right to do what I want, good for me ;-) If I have not, well, .. I guess I can't blame other for protecting their works ;-)
