Does anyone know of a way to limit the bandwidth used by Firefox(1.5) and maybe other programs too? With Bittorent clients and Limewire you can cap the used bandwidth so that it's still possible to browse or listen to internet radio. But with Firefox i can't find an option for that. Does anyone know of an extension or program that can do this? EDIT: A free program would be the best for me (i'm a poor student ;P, and i don't have a creditcard or paypal or something. So if it ain't free, i have to resort to the programs listed above that do know how to cap the used bandwidth... :-O) EDIT: Already got it sorted... (A) Thanks! :)

Hi Marc, While a plugin for Firefox would be the ideal solution, if you can't find such a thing, you can check out a more comprehensive solution in a program called Port Explorer from DiamondCS at http://www.diamondcs.com.au/ . This is a very modest packet sniffer program that also features the ability to "throttle" the network usage of any process on the system. You would be able to control not just Firefox, but any process. I admit that this may be more than you're looking for, but I mentioned it just in case you were not aware such a thing existed. Best wishes for the new year! Rich

If you find any open source code or published free code that does this I'm really interested. The closest thing I've been able to find so far is a proxy server. Not really what I'm after...

Thanks for the link! I'm using NetLimiter, because it looked easier to manage as far as i could see from the screenshots. But thanks anyway! :rose:

:wtf: I'm trying to send you an email (rex[monkeytale]code-frog[point]com), but my IP is blacklisted by SORBS?? Technical details of permanent failure: PERM_FAILURE: SMTP Error (state 9): 550 5.2.1 Mailbox unavailable. Your IP address 64.XX.XX.XX is blacklisted using SORBS-ALL. Details: Spam Received See: http://www.sorbs.net/lookup.shtml?64.XX.XX.XX. I'll try a proxy now, hope it works... :~

Well SORBS ain't the most updated blacklist in the world. However it tends to kill even the subtle fakes so I use it on my server. If you are using gmail/yahoo/msn/aol I kill you by default and once I reply to you then you are good to go. :) - Rex
