I just got a letter from MS about the Coming Of Visual Studio .NET. I knew that was coming, and I didn't really care as I don't do web-based C++ dev. (with reference to previous thread on VC 7.0). But hell, they've changed MSDN Library so it's no longer supported by VS 6.0!!! To quote: "Please keep your MSDN Library from October 2001 for use with Visual Studio versions 6.0 and earlier". So that's how they're gonna get us VC++ 6.0 developers interested in .NET - by brute force! But I'm not going to upgrade to VC.NET just to get MSDN Library (at additional cost, of course  ) Cheers Steen. "To claim that computer games influence children is rediculous. If Pacman had influenced children born in the 80'ies we would see a lot of youngsters running around in dark rooms eating pills while listening to monotonous music"

Annoying but not the end of the world. I usually use the MSDN library as a stand-alone program (well, two or three programs) so it's not that much of a problem. But don't tell me you didn't expect this ?

I don't see a problem. Certainly anything new on MSDN is going to be related to VS.NET or the new .NET languages, not anything to do with pre-.NET stuff. I think you'll be fine with the older MSDN libraries. CodeGuy The WTL newsgroup: over 1100 members! Be a part of it. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wtl

I'll probably use VS 6 & VS.NET together for a while. I have no idea if my old projects will compile with the new VS.Net but I'll know soon enough. Besides I still use VC++ 1.52 for some projects and that doesn't work with MSDN either.

Well, I do. First, I'll loose the context-sensitive help that I use a lot. Second, not all updates to MSDN is .NET related - some things about XP, MDAC, directX, win64, winCE etc. should be relevant for non.Net as well. And I still think it sucks that MS pulls the plug on VS 6.0 so abruptly. Cheers Steen. "To claim that computer games influence children is rediculous. Good points. I hardly use any of the XP, DirectX, etc. stuff so I had a different perspective. And the integrated help IS a nice feature. On pulling the plug: Microsoft is betting everything on .NET, and it shows. CodeGuy The WTL newsgroup: over 1100 members! Be a part of it. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wtl

Presumably somebody will come up with a way to circumvent this. They aways do ;);)
