Ahhh, I see. Well, have a good Australia Day then! :-D For other uninformed people such as myself, you can read about Australia Day here. The 26th is my 6-year dating anniversary, too (i.e., the fianceé and I will have been together for 6 years). Jon Sagara What about :bob:?

Manning Clark notes that on the 26 January 1808, the 'anniversary of the foundation of the colony' was observed in the traditional manner with 'drinking and merriment'. John Macarthur senior had ensured his soldiers were amply supplied with liquor_, bonfires were blazing and private houses illuminated._
For today, aliens are supplied with beer. ;) Regards Thomas Finally with Sonork id: 100.10453 Thömmi

Hey Chris, I think that Bob´s eyes a little bit red too. I think you should take him to a doctor. I´ve heard that some guy called "Dr. Watson" is good in those issues. :) Mauricio Teichmann Ritter Brazil mauricioritter@hotmail.com

Jon Sagara wrote: What's the special occasion today? It is Aussie day. All the Aussies go mad, drink lots (ok, even MORE than usual, if that is possible) and generally do daft things in the name of their country. As far as I know it is "positioned" at this time because of the GALLIPOLI debacle which happened in WW1. I watched the movie last night, pretty tragic stuff (though Mel Gibson aged 20 was hilarious!) It is only Aussie day tomorrow here in London (Chris is always early.) I am staying with a couple of Aussies and the last few days have been an alternating pantomime of sobbing about the tragic event, drinking, singing and dancing in celebration of Australia, drinking and then more sobbing. Followed by outright London Aussie warfare tomorrow. And not too long ago several of you Aussies were trying to convince me that you are not a very patriotic lot. Now we know the truth... "Thank you, thank you very much" Elvis.
