Which one was that - i think there were three? I remember playing the first one about 7 years ago... it got more and more difficult and I never completed it :(. I bought the second one not that long ago, but haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

Its been a whilst since I’ve bothered with gaming... Wondering if some one could recommend some kind of strategy game to run on a bottom end laptop for a long commute!

Any of the Civilization series is worth playing. I'm not sure if your laptop will handle Civ IV but either III or II should run. Michael CP Blog [^] Development Blog [^] -- modified at 12:36 Saturday 18th March, 2006

I love CivII and IV, but never enjoyed Civ III. Maybe because war are not as winnable?

For a bottem end laptop, I would recommend any game in the Command & Conquer series EXCEPT generals. If you don't have a at least a 128MB graqphics card generals will make you cry. Civilization 3 should also run well.

Found on Bash.org [erno] hm. I've lost a machine.. literally _lost_. it responds to ping, it works completely, I just can't figure out where in my apartment it is.

You call that low-end??? My laptop is 233 MHz... Anyway, try Red Alert 2 (maybe with the Yuri's revenge addon). It is 2D, and very addictive. :)

i would highly recommend Age of empires 1 & 2 but i doubt you will enjoy strategy games much on a laptop without a mouse (assuming that you won't use mouse while commuting).

Its a matter of what the mouse substitute is and how used to it you are... for example, the button ones are... not good. the touchpad ones actually aren't bad... I prefer touchpads over regular mice in most cases - provided its not external ;P

I highly recommend Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun. My kids and I actually preferred it to the rest of the series and still take it for a spin every now and then. (Heck, get the Command & Conquer Collection from your local computer store.) On my main system, I still have Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds and Warcraft III installed and still play the former occasionally. Don't know if they run on a "bottom end" laptop though.
