There used to be a family of them in Eastenders. A right miserable bunch they were too... (Not that I watch that rubbish! Life on Mars is more my style) Anna :rose: Currently working mostly on: Visual Lint  Anna's Place | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up. Me too. Unfortunately Beth's mum is addicted to it (probably because she grew up in the East End) so whenever we go up to visit her parents its a case of "grin and bear it". Anna :rose: Currently working mostly on: Visual Lint  Anna's Place | Tears and Laughter "Be yourself - not what others think you should be" - Marcia Graesch "Anna's just a sexy-looking lesbian tart" - A friend, trying to wind me up. Typical, they find something beautiful and so far unique and then they shoot it. [Xanya]

My thoughts exactly. I read the title, thought "How amazing", clicked the link and the first thing I see are a bunch of twits proudly crouching next to a bloody and dead animal. regards, Paul Watson Ireland Feed Henry!

Clickety[^] I'm sure they'll find another one. "Territorial officials seized the creature's body and a DNA test from Wildlife Genetics International, a lab in British Columbia, has confirmed that the hybrid was born of a polar mother and grizzly father" Cheers, Simon > blog:: brokenkeyboards > what I think of the OPTIONAL keyword in VB.NET? :: here > CV :: PDF > skype :: SimonMStewart

it might be the first *wild* one ever found, but this hybrid's happened before in the zoo.

Me too. I understand hunting (some families need to because of income) for those who *need* it. But if you have $50,000 then I guess I'm a bit confused. Oh well... If you read the full article animal experts have concerns about polar-grizzly offspring as it waters down the purity of either species. So maybe it's not a bad thing... I'll believe that so I feel a bit better about it.

Yeah. In fairness there is neccesary hunting and I don't have a problem with it and I don't know all the details of this hunt. I just found the photo they chose for the story to be tasteless. regards, Paul Watson Ireland Feed Henry!

It was poor taste. The guy paid $50,000 U.S. for the permit/guide/etc... the guide knew the bear didn't look right and described characteristics about the bear. They still dropped it. Some of the characteristics you'd need to be up close to see but I imagine they had binoculars and rifle scopes and new in advance they had something interesting. I think bragging rights ended this bear's life prematurely but hey... It just goes to show if you have the money there's little you cannot do. If some guy needing to feed his family had shot the bear he'd already be in prison.:sigh: I'm not an animal activist either. I'm just not the hunter type and the ironies that exist in this life really give me pause for thought.:|

My family comes from a long line of hunters, my grandfather basically kept us alive since it was our only source of meat growing up. But I have no stomach for it, though have done it out of necissity in the past, and yet I have no respect for "sport" hunting. This reminds me of our annual hunts locally. New Mexico and White Sands Missile Range imported in Oryx from Africa many decades ago and seeded them on the Range. At the time the General then was a big-game hunter and didn't want to have to fly to Africa to hunt, NM didn't mind it was on fenced government land, and the state could regulate a hunt. So now you can sign up once a year for an Oryx hunt. An Oryx hunt amounts to paying your money to the state for the privledge, hopping in a vehicle with a Military Police armed with a fully automatic weapon, driving out to a location where the Oryx are standing in the shade of a Mesquite bush (the Oryx does not run away because he has no natural preditor and all other 50 weeks of the year you are questioned if you hit them with a car) and then you shoot him with a high powered gun usually with a scope, at 15-25 yards. You have one shot to hit him, if you miss you get another try. If you wound him but he can still run away, the MP will take him down "rapidly" so that he doesn't run off wounded. And you still get to claim him as "yours" and get photographed with it at the gate. At the gate of the range there is a pully set up with a guy to take your pictures next to your "trophy". There is more "sport" in an amusement park shooting gallery. It's a canned shoot. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau.
