Looking at the online job listings, NC looks like a hot bed of development activity compared to Indiana. It is one of the places I have actually considered going to to find contract work. "There's a slew of slip 'twixt cup and lip"

They all run together up there - it's all uniformly awful - wall-to-wall people. You've gotten enough of that overcrowding crap where you are. Try some wide open space for a change; you'll never be able to understand how anyone can live in a city after you've lived outside of one for a time.

Everyone dreams. Everyone. Even someone as pitiable and scornful as a 3rd wordler. I dream too. Dreaming is easy. Then what is it that separates a few. That makes some people stand out. Well that’s something too. Its called realization of dreams. Will I realize my dreams? Will I ever achieve what I wanted to achieve ever since I was old enough to say my name? Or will I suffer the same fate as any other 3rd worlder? I know some Indians are successful in life. But these are the elite and rich upper class. They have the money power to get them out of India. What about me? I can imagine myself born in a developed place. I believe that if I was born in some computer aware place, say SF, I’d have conquered my dreams by now. I’d have got an exposure which is only fantasy now to me. I’d have been rich and successful and contended. Why has fortune been cruel to me? It’s particularly painful to me. Simply because I was not destined thus, to be a piece of crap in a world of nothingness. But there is hope, as is always so. I don’t remember who it was who said that, but to hope is to live. And so it shall be with me. I shall strive to cross the abominabilities thrust upon me by my 3rd world nationality and I shall conquer. And you shall all be witness to that. Hmmm, dunno what to think about your dream Nish. I think you can do a whole lot more right where you are. I've never quite understood "thirdworlders" fascination with living in the West. I'm in Africa and I'm staying right here, hopefully I can make a small difference. That's MY dream. So I must say with all due respect that when you say fortune has been cruel to you, well it hurts a little. You have food in your stomach and a roof over your head. I think you should be just a little more grateful for that. Millions of people have neither where I come from and indeed where YOU come from. But maybe all this is redundant because I suppose you COULD go to SF and be able to help out more as a result. But if it never happens, don't be so hard on yourself, you have alot to be thankful for, trust me. :-) Good luck!! Regards Senkwe Just another wannabe code junky

Senkwe I am very well aware of the fact that there must be 4 billion on earth worse off than I am. But I dont intend to compare myself with people below me. I am looking at the other 2 billion. I will only compare myself with people better off than me, for that's the only way to drive my ambition on... The problem with people is theie selfish. Once you experience good life, you never wanna go back. Not that I know from direct experience. My life is pretty shitty ;P it's kinda like a self inflicted gunshot wound. I understand that our lives are probably totally different, but first world countries don't promise happiness for happiness is all in minds eye! Certainly hunger takes on a different meaning in Canada...even the poorest of poor don't kill for food here. It's easier to rob a store and goto jail, where in Canada...your treated pretty good so I hear. Unless yer a pretty boy and the locals take a liking to you. Life sux and then you die! I've always had a bit of a disgruntled attidude towards people born into riches, but yet have an incredible respect for William Gates... I can respect your wishes in that you would like to keep your success local and help India's growth, but Nish...the success of North Americans doesn't exist becuz we look out for our countrymen back home. Sometimes you gotta learn to look out for yourself. Certainly I can see you making into Canada, might take a little more effort cuz the Sept. 11, but your highly experienced in the hi-tech sector. It's the wave of the future...US, Canada, Japan are way ahead of the game. It would be hard for you to understand my opinion, unless you yourself tasted total freedom. But like I said...if your born with it or once you've experienced it you aren't gonna wanna let it go. Move to Canada heck we'll go into biz togather. Your a third world underdog i'm one of societies blacksheep, I like the odds. Microsoft wouldn't even see us coming. ;P Our low Canadian dollor makes US currency seem like pure gold, and attarcts allot of biz cuz everything is so much cheaper. However Americans are the proudest people on this planet, so i'm sure they'd rather spend the buck at home. Living straight North of them give us an advantage over other competing countries. What am i trying to say? I dunno myself. :-D You should look out for you, move to Canada and live life, the way life was meant to be lived.??? ;P As honourable as it is to wanna help fellow countrymen you goota ask yourself, who is it yer living for. This selfishness is the reson for success. I figure theres no way you can truly be both...you gotta pick, for some (Bill Gates) it's easy, for more compassionate people the choice isn't always so obvious. Hope the best for you and hope you make the right choice! Cheers "An e

That's just philosophy. The world is not equal Senkwe. Some people due to luck or fortune or whatever, are better off than others. Lets take a poor afghan child who was born while his whole country was getting bombed. He is below anyone of us as far as being a normal human being goes. Its got nothing to do with him, rather more to do with his circumstances. I am not saying 4 billion people suck. I am saying that as long as there are 2 billion people better off than me in both spiritual and material ways, I am going to try to improve my world ranking as a fortunate human being. Instead of wishing him good luck, I propose we (those of us in the USA) all lobby our bosses to hire him away from his lovely hometown. In return, he should promise us one new article each week for the rest of his life and not complaining anything about the 1st world. ;)
