Oh it is OK for those doing ASP.NET websites as the client-server integration and controls are nifty but it is too heavy and overengineered for other backends. Dojo or Prototype are a lot better for that. Atlas also needs to get away from the whole "look how easy it is, drag and drop" tutorials. No web-dev with an ounce of professionalism uses drag-and-drop to code their sites. Just like you don't use D&D for your C++ apps. regards, Paul Watson Ireland FeedHenry needs you

Thanks. I don't really know much about Atlas or Ajax - that's why I asked. I didn't realize Atlas was a heavy framework. Regards, Nish

if that's where the phrase originated, it seems reasonable. Cleek | Image Toolkits | Thumbnail maker
You don't think the phrase is a bit too unoriginal to trade/service/sign mark? It's not like LinuxWorld or Microsoft. regards, Paul Watson Ireland FeedHenry needs you

Currently working on C++/CLI in Action for Manning Publications.Sorry, I was still in my own semi-real world when I wrote that.... D&D = Dungeons And Dragons, a role playing game, and d8 = 8 sided die. Normal dice are d6's. Also, d4, d6, d8, d10, d20, d% (2x d10s), and last but not least - d2, a coin. Don't worry about not getting that - I was just being amused at my inner geek. Due to unpredictable work commitments, I haven't played in almost a decade... Iain.

Yes indeedy - O'Reilly has trademarked "Web 2.0"[^] :wtf: '--8<------------------------ Ex Datis: Duncan Jones Merrion Computing Ltd
That's alright. I just read an article yesterday, they're already talking about Web 3.0. Quick! Marc Pensieve Some people believe what the bible says. Literally. At least [with Wikipedia] you have the chance to correct the wiki -- Jörgen Sigvardsson

hmm true in a sense but it isn't a composite like Web 2.0 is. There is no chance they can get Web or 2.0 as marks and the combination is dubious at best. regards, Paul Watson Ireland FeedHenry needs you

Oh okay, and I've never heard of Dungeons and Dragons either - am guessing it's a computer game or a TV show. Regards, Nish

Currently working on C++/CLI in Action for Manning Publications.Dungeons and Dragons according to Wikipedia[^] and the official page.[^] It most definitley is not a TV thing. It is a role playing board game system. Very cool if a bit... uhh... geeky. regards, Paul Watson Ireland FeedHenry needs you

Good. So can we all stop calling it Web 2.0 now? cheers, Chris Maunder

how about Web 2.1 - must be due for a minor revision release by now. And it'll be wonderful once we get to version 3.0 - or 3.1, 3.11 then we could have the 95 and 98 editions - strange feeling of deja vu - never mind I am sure it'll go away.
I'll be more enthusiastic about encouraging thinking outside the box when there's evidence of any thinking going on inside it. - pTerry

no. but if they sucessfully registered it, and are defending it (which is required), they have it until a court takes it away. http://www.cummingsdesign.com/trademarks_service_marks.htm[^] Cleek | Image Toolkits | Thumbnail maker
