Hi All, I really love the new IE(7) and it's features. but it's deadly slow when comparing with FF and Opera. Opera has built-in support to set the number of Maximum connections to a server and Total Connection. FF has Fasterfox for performance and network tweaks. Even without the network tweaks Opera and FF have a reasonable speed for uploading/downloading. IE still lacking such a feature. there are some registry tweaks in web for making IE fast. even after using the same, I didnt feel any difference :( Any people know how to make IE faster? SaRath.

Heh. I've heard the phrase "dead slow" but this is the first time I'm hearing somebody say "deadly slow". Cheers, Vikram.

MS bashing prevents IE from having that option. The HTTP spec says the agent should not have more than 2 simultaneous connections to one server. Thus IE is following the spec, yet IE gets bashed for being too slow. If MS added the option, they'd get bashed for not following the spec. Other browsers can do it because they're not IE and therefore not evil.

I'm thinking in the case of Firefox here... Firefox has the support (probably just a constant passed to a function) for more than 2 connections so because it's open source you can install extensions which simplify the process of "upgrading" this constant. In otherwords Firefox itself does not support it but extensions which you download, after agreeing to a disclaimer, do allow you to change it fairly easily.

Why bother with IE at all? FF rulez, and I will not spend my days installing/tweaking/uninstalling silly browsers. Hitchcock said "It is just a movie". I say "It is just a browser". :) _____________________________________ Action without thought is not action Action without emotion is not life -- modified at 6:03 Thursday 20th July, 2006

Try going to: "about:config" and look for: network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server That allows you to change it on a bog standard install of FF 1.5 And for those wanting to change the setting in IE: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/183110/ (I have never tried it, but it looks like it should work) Chris.

Why bother with IE at all? FF rulez, and I will not spend my days installing/tweaking/uninstalling silly browsers. Hitchcock said "It is just a movie". Is there a recommeded number of connections to set in FF to get the best perfomance? Or does it depend on your the size of your broadband connection? Words fade as the meanings change, but somehow, it don't bother me.
