What are you doing this weekend? :) I plan to visit my aunt and do the laundry tomorrow. Will be meeting a friend on Sunday. I owe him a treat for my birthday earlier this month, and he owes me a treat for his birthday earlier this month, so we'll be going dutch. I also hope to finish A Critique of C++[^] No flames, please. C++ is the language second dearest to my heart (C# managed to dethrone it recently) but that doesn't mean it's flawless.

    Cheers, Vikram.

I really need to work on my lawn as the weeds are taking over. Pay the bills, change the litter boxes, maybe eat some cheese. Not necessarily in that order.

Not a lot. I bought an LCD monitor today (20" widescreen 1680x1050) but it doesn't work so I'll have to take it back tomorrow morning and get a replacement or repairs or something. Bummer. Church on Sunday morning and Sunday night. Not much else really.

Be careful not to mix up the litter boxes and the cheese. :)

With any luck this weekend will be so much more relaxing. An aquarium is so much easier than theme parks.

The original Friday Post has returned. :) Tonight I'm going to start redesigning/rewriting an editor I wrote for work in C++ a few years ago. The main reason is to have a useful project to help me learn C# better, but also, I've always hated the code and frankly it'd be easier to rewrite than refactor. :-O I'm going a bike trek tomorrow morning to help raise awareness of cycling in South Carolina. I opted for the 28-mile loop, which will be my longest ride after I finish, so I'm looking forward to reaching another personal best. Then tomorrow night I'm visiting friends for dinner and drinks. Sometime this weekend I'm going to but a border around my front flower beds and try to improve the drainage around one of them. It keeps getting flooded whenever we have a strong rain.

I checked out a couple sites last night that people recommended. Don't think I visited that one yet. I ended up taking a nap. One hundred degree heat does that to me.

If you're doing a lot of street or bike path riding, by all means get a road bike. I started out riding a hybrid (a Trek 730), and when I switched to a road bike (a Trek 1220) the difference was amazing. For me, the road bike was faster (about 2 mph worth) right off the bat due to the lighter weight, skinny tires, and different gear ratios. It was also a lot more comfortable. On the hybrid I had a mountain bike riding position, which is pretty upright. This mean my butt got tired and sore on rides longer than a couple of hours. The road bike has a much flatter position, with your weight balanced farther forward. Decent road bikes can be had for $600-$800. Mine was a close-out at a bike shop. They didn't have the right frame size in stock, but they had one in Kansas City. The disassembled the one in Kansas City, shipped it to my store in Dayton Ohio, reassembled it, and sold it to me for the close-out price, which I thought was realy .

I have a hybrid (Schwinn Badlands). I recently bought thinner road tires for it, which helped a lot, but the components are crap so I get into trouble shifting on some steeper hills. I'm looking at buying a Trek 1200, or comparable, after my first 1000 miles which should be around Christmas.
