I need to install Visual Studio .NET, but first I need to uninstall Beta 2. I am not sure what is the right sequence. I think it is as follows : Microsoft Visual Studio.NET 7.0 Proffessional - English Microsoft .NET Framework (English) Full v1.0.2914 When I try uninstalling Visual Studio, I get the error "Setup is unable to determine a valid ordering for the installation. See the error log for further details" I cannot find any errorlog, the only one I could find didnt not have any info in it and did not have a modified date close to the current time. I found using google.groups I thread that said you had to uninstall any .NET applications before uninstalling. The only .NET application I have run is ZoomNet from this site, and it didnt have an installation program just an exe and a .manifest file. I also followed the instructions for "Planning the form layout in VB.NET" at http://www.codeproject.com/dotnet/pflvb7.asp but created a C# project not a VB.NET project. I have delete all the exe's in my C++ Samples folder, so do not have access to any of the files created in C# projects, except for ZoomNet. I have also installed the free Devpartner Profiler. I unistalled this before attempting to unintall VS.NET. I have updated the core components as the setup said these were not complete and I have tried the reinstallation option, but whenever I try to uninstall .NET I get the valid ordering error. Any suggestions ?

I had a similar situation occur when I was running Windows 2000 and just wanted to uninstall Visual Studio.NET beta 2. I ended up taking an entirely different route and reformated to installed Windows XP Professional, plus I reinstalled VS.NET beta 2. When I purchased VS.NET the release version I uninstalled VS.NET first, the the framework. Rebooted the machine and installed the version of the framework that came with my new version of VS.NET. I'm not sure that this work flow will help however you could always do a fresh install of you OS. Thats always fun X| Nick Parker

when i did it, i just uninstalled the beta and left the framework. then i installed the release version of VS.Net and it updated the framework. everything went smoothly. (which i am so grateful for, that i'm considering taking up religion so that i have something to thank for my good fortune) -c

You could start your own, it could be called the "both fingers crossed" religion. Nick Parker
