All change!

At the weekend I wiped XP and installed Redhat on my 'experimental' hard disk.
Of the two, I prefer RH for overall performance though XP has some nice bits - fast startup of OS and apps. RH comes with oodles of software - development and office etc. XP has less but WIMP and Messenger are fairly good. Both have handy update programs though Windows Update is only for the OS. XP seems a bit more clever with hardware.
With a blank sheet, I would choose RH over XP but due to legacy hardware and work requirements I'll keep my W2K hard disk going too! Best of both worlds? Or will I waste time jumping between the two?

Cheers, Davy http://www.LateDecember.comI found that the development tools that came with Redhat weren't a patch on Visual Studio. It does come in handy when wanting to test what websites look like in different browsers. Michael :-)

One little CD gone, Then two CDs gone, Then 5 more gone, For a total 7 gones, If I was a CD R, I'd wanna cry, Cause I'd be just a goner, For a nasty CD burner. [funny how frustration wakes up the poet in me]_

Cheers, Davy http://www.LateDecember.comRH is a great os - fast and reliable, and very nice GUI. However, you can't use it to develop VS. Win2k is the best choice out of all windows version available. :-) - Dan "Intel inside - Idiot outside"

Nish, I am sypathetic to your cost issue but why stop there? I can download linux versions for free. So why added anything that is not free. By your argument XP should not even be considered. To be conscious that you are ignorant of the facts is a great step towards Knowledge. Benjamin Disraeli

Michael A. Barnhart wrote: By your argument XP should not even be considered. Isnt that what I was talking too? Michael tried to say the Visual Studio was an advantage for XP, but I reminded him VS was a separate package unlike KDevelop which came free with Red Hat Linux Nish_
