It is interesting reading. They talk about some of the questionable features in the standard. Many of which I have whined about. Herb also makes a very valid point about portability. It seems there are a lot of people who want things added to the standard for the sake of portability. However, as Herb correctly points out, people have been creating portable software without having new elements added to the standard. Which does give me a lot of hope that the standards committee does have actually have a more pragmatic view of the problem. Portability != Standard.
