I don't normally watch Hindi movies, but I saw Salaam-e-Ishq last night (it had English sub-titles, which is why I went). It's a pretty decent movie, as long as you watch it from a Hindi-movie-mindset. Lots of colorful song/dance sequences. It's the story of 6 different couples, issues in their life, and how they cope with it. The director has taken an effort to have links between 5 of the couples, so from any one couple, you can traverse to any other of these 5. But the 6th couple is disjoint and seems to be there just for comic relief. It's a bloody long movie though - 3 1/2 hours I think. By about the 2 1/2 hour mark, many people who came with kids had to leave as they were beginning to cry and make noises and stuff. As a non-regular Hindi movie watcher, I liked the movie - I wonder if regular Hindi watchers have a similar opinion.

    Regards, Nish

I couldn't care less about most movies, but I did see (rather, hear) the ad for Salaam e Ishq this morning. The music (all 5 seconds of it) was awesome. :-D It sounded like celtic music :~ which I enjoy deeply. Gotta see if a colleague has a CD that I can borrow or if I can listen to it on Raaga. I might buy it if it's really that nice.

    Cheers, Vikram.

You don't get one just like that, you need to acquire a Hindi-movie-mindset by constantly watching Hindi movies.

I didn't watch this movie. But, heard not so encouraging reviews. And these days, such marathon movies are painful if they are not up to the mark. But, watched 'Trafic Signal' by Madhur Bhandarkar and 'Guru' by ManiRatnam. And really liked it. Especially 'Trafic Signal'. Director has described hard hitting reality in humorous way.

Yes, you will find movies which are "Inspired" from Hollywood (That's what the directors say :) ) But on a serios note, there are many good movies which are not knockoffs from hollywood
