Anyone working with OpenId yet?
-
Was curious if anyone around here has been working with OpenId: http://openid.net/[^] If so, what level of integration to you use or plan to use? That is, do you plan to use automatic registration of users or just let anyone with an OpenId slide through? Perhaps still requiring a full regsitration to be filled out but use the OpenId just for singing into your system? From what I can see, it really does not provide much benefit to the site owner, but does insure that the user who signed up is the user who is signing on to the system. Is CP considering it?

I'm not actively planning on using it, but I have a 'big picture' plan in that I hope it makes it's way into many PHP systems. With PHP, many CMS, Forum, and other available system all introduce their own authentication system, with a simpler username and logon. That is fair enuogh, but as soon as you start trying to make these systems work together, authentication becomes an utter nightmare. If they could all agree on a single method, that would make me a happy man. - Phil
