I m helping out my friend in writing her resume. She is a Search Engine Optimizer. Can someone help me by giving some general information to fill in "responsibilities" ? What she has provided is too vague - "I was a Search Engine Optimizer (SEO) during the first 2 years of my career, switched to Web development using ASP.NET 2.0, Web Services and SQL Server after that." Thanks! (BTW I 'm new to this forum..)

Wow, I didn't know that was a title. That would set off the warning lights on my credibility sensor. :) I recommend using something more mainstream, eg: "Web Developer", which is broad enough to encompass different web related activities. /ravi

Well, partly. A good resume will get you an interview; a good interview will get you a job. Give 'em enough information to get them interested, but not so much that you exclude yourself. As a career counselor friend of mine says "iceberg"; that is to say tell them the 10% they need to know to give you an interview, the other 90% will just sink your chances. Cheers, Drew.

Actually, SEO is indeed a career path. Although a large portion of this field approaches their craft in a less than ethical manner, there are nonetheless many who play by the rules. Optimizing a web site for maximium recognition by the search engines is non trivial and quite important.

I guess I view SEO (the noun, which I know is big business) as a task performed by a marketing consultant. To me, "search engine optimizer" sorta reeks of "internet content developer" or "hardcopy collateral creator". :) /ravi
