I hate it when FAT people call themselves big. That is a complete abuse of a positive word like big plus they are only kidding themselves and taking a step back by not accepting their obesity and doing something about it ... phew! ... thanks for reading!

You don't need to either hate it or love it, just accept it. People who have obesity often have a problem accepting it, it's part of the disease. Have you considered that people who are obese may not like being obese?

Some people can't do anything about it. Yes, it is a health hazard, but sometimes it's physical and the person can't fix it. You think it's just a matter of eating less, but it's not... I know obese people who barely eat. Their bodies are super-efficient, able to extract every iota of energy from everything they eat, whereas a person like me wastes a lot, but I stay thin. My body isn't saving up for a rainy day... whatever I don't need now is wasted. People are not always that lucky. Whatever the situation is, it's not as simple as what you said, and I think you're being extremely inconsiderate. What if told you I don't think the right word is "bald"... I think the right word is "ugly"... that's what you're saying, and if you want fat people to use a derogatory term when referring to themselves, you're asking way too much. Fat and large are the same damn thing and if people want to choose a word with less stigma, who the hell are you to tell them otherwise? This should be in the soapbox, with all the other worthless, harmful, and high-and-mighty opinions that don't mean crap in the real world.

You can't pass a moral judgement on someone because of their weight. For that matter you shouldn't be passing judgement at all. You're not without flaws. You sound like an ass making this post.

hmm ... it's symphathizers like you that are the cause of obesity in this (US) country. Quit patronizing them you idiot ... what they need is to realize that no one is born fat and that being fat isn't an irreplaceble disease that hits only America (Geez!) ... THEY NEED TO GET IN SHAPE FOR THEIR OWN GOOD ... and that means to do whatever it takes ... and the first step is to accept that they are FAT not big.

This is the problem ... right here ... what you said you freaking hypocritical moron. On one hand you are ok with FAT people lying and judging themselves as big when they are actually FAT but when another person makes a correction it becomes a wrong judgement ... Good heavens! ... quit symphathizing with these FAT ASSES and let them make themselves useful. Oh ... and btw I don't really care where this post is put Soapbox or FATbox or whatever else you escapists (of reality) want to call it.

People need to start living in reality, not trying to sidestep it. No wonder the world is so screwed up.

You don't need to either hate it or love it, just accept it. People who have obesity often have a problem accepting it, it's part of the disease. Have you considered that people who are obese may not like being obese?

Like it or not, it's more accurate to call an obese person fat than to call them big. Using a euphemism for a condition that a person has no control over is just being nice, using it in reference to your own personally chosen of your own free will clinical condition is just living in a fantasy world that is not helping yourself at all.
