not sure im right but probably because a lot of seasoned programmers came from c then to c++ and so naturally go to c#... im from vb6 to vbnet but now since my group is handling aspnet and using c# im forced to go to that direction... just a thought..

I prefer C# to VB .NET but I'm not as hostile to VB as many others. If you ignore syntax and culture issues then, having done mostly VB .NET in the past year, a couple of things that stick out for me are: 1. Traditionally C# has been slightly more first-class in terms of language features, i.e., VB often plays catch-up. 2. C# is on the whole better integrated with the IDE. A VS 2005 example is the way code snippets are implemented in the editors. C# is implemented much better. In practice, I've found 1 and 2 more important than syntax differences.

I actually spent my first 3 1/2 years of .net programming as a vb.net programmer. Then I got a job as a contractor, started programming in C#. Not only do contractors bill out at higher rates with C#, but it really is a better language to program in. So have really a good taste of both languages, I only go back to vb.net when I have too. Which thankfully isn't real often. I would say once you have tried C# it is pretty hard to go back to vb.net. Ben

I started with C# but I've been in a VB .NET contract for a year or so which finishes next week. Then it's back to C# for the next contract.

Yes. Developers that have been forced to think in this language for more than a year find it tremendously tough to undue the brain damage that results. Its a special kind of brain damage that makes you think you can do things that you can't. Often times with the result of you thinking that you are in fact doing them. Not recommended. Try vomiting. If you still feel the desire to work with it, then see a poison specialist immediately. It might not be too late.
