[Airline Study] Airlines just don't get it yet

Airlines ‘just don't get it yet’[^]
Air Transport Association Study:
"We're going to see more delays and those delays translate to cancellations, mishandled bags and unhappy passengers," said David Castelveter, spokesman for the Air Transport Association, a trade group for the major U.S. carriers. "It's not a pretty picture."
I wonder what their first clue was.
I'd love to help, but unfortunatley I have prior commitments monitoring the length of my grass. :Andrew Bleakley:

I had to fly out of PHL this weekend, and as I was waiting for my (delayed) flight, I saw a luggage cart/trailer on the tarmac pull away and drop three bags onto the ground about 5 feet from each other. The bags saw there for about 10 minutes until someone wearing a orange-yellow vest walked past them, stopped, and then picked up the bags, piled them together in one place and then...
Just Walked Away
, never even checking their tags to see where they should going or what plane they were about to miss. I guess he just wanted them out of the way of other carts/trailers! Gotta love that Customer Service with the Airlines these days... :sigh: Peace!-=- James

It's not entirely the airlines fault. Airport security is a joke that only causes aggravation and slow downs. But the biggest problem is the hub concept; cramming dozens of flights into the shortest period of time. The result is delays, too much luggage going through too little space and all that. Yes, this is a problem airlines invented, but they did it in response to customers and I don't see it going away any time soon. Having said that, airlines should be slapped around for overbooking and over-aggressive flight schedules. (I also find it interesting that while I, and others, joke about Southwest Airlines being "cattle airlines", they've given me the most balanced service over the years--not the best, but certainly not the worse [that honor goes to United.])

Most of the people I know that have slandered them really fixate on the lack of assigned seating.
-- CleaKO The sad part about this instance is that none of the users ever said anything [about the problem]. Pete O`Hanlon Doesn't that just tell you everything you need to know about users?

When what appears to be the Airlines own PR firm admits there are serious issues its seems pretty cut and dry. Thankfully, I will never travel any where I can't go via my truck.
