When installing VS.NET academic some of you might come across this error :- [error log] [05/05/02,10:10:11] setup.exe: [2] ISetupComponent::Pre/Post/Install() failed in ISetupManager::InstallManagerHelper() [05/05/02,10:10:11] setup.exe: [2] Component error string not specified in ISetupManager::AddToActionResultCollection() [/error log] Don't worry! This is what you need to do! Disable all non-Microsoft services. All of them!!! I myself had trouble with the Zone Alarm Alert Logging service. Finish the install, reboot and re-enable those services. Regards Nish p.s. I thought of writing a longer article with more details and tips, but now that we have this forum, I thought I might make it a post. :-)

****Colin Davies wrote: You could have almost made an article out of that lot Nish ! I had serious plans of a VS.NET install/usage tips article. But this forum idea is better. Because as James said, it's too random. Some people have a helluva rough time like me and CG. Some peop have it easy like James and Chris M Nish

I have installed VS.NET on 5 differetn computers, worked perfectly the first time every time :-) On my new pc it only took 30 minutes for a almost complete install (didn't install VB) - Anders Money talks, but all mine ever says is "Goodbye!"
