I started taking piano lessons about a month ago. I know the C, E and G positions hand positions, as well as the C, D7, G and G7 chords. I'm hoping to be able to play the Entertainer within the next two months (it's a failry difficult song for a beginner...lots of hand position changes). I've found that learning the piano is easy for me because I type 90 words per minute on the keyboard, so it is very easy to pick up the hand position. Brigg Thorp Software Engineer Timex Corporation

Electric Bass Alembic Series II to be exact. Very fine bass. Love that bass. Tim Smith I know what you're thinking punk, you're thinking did he spell check this document? Well, to tell you the truth I kinda forgot myself in all this excitement. But being this here's CodeProject, the most powerful forums in the world and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question, Do I feel lucky? Well do ya punk?

Piano, trumpet, Euphonium/Baritone, and singing. These days I don't play much but I sing in a group called North State Choral... men's choral, a little barbershop, etc.

Thirty+ years of 12-string guitar. I've got a nice keyboard, but I can't really claim to play it - for now it's a very expensive, very accurate guitar tuner. I'm fairly handy with a kazoo, but I haven't had one (or seen one) for a long time.

I have been playing guitar for about 40 odd years. Paid for most of my college swinging an axe. Also play bass ( no its not the same thing ) a little piano ( just enough to compose on but not good enough to play at a gig ). I have , in recent years, stopped playing electric and play almost exclusively acoustic these days. Jazz, traditional, mountain music, a little bluegrass. Richard Monarchies, aristocracies, and religions....there was never a country where the majority of the people were in their secret hearts loyal to any of these institutions. Been a guitar player for 5 years, bass guitar for nearly 2 years. Entirely self-taught. I enjoy the idea of teaching myself because I get to develop my own style instead of copying a tutor's style. I also dabble with keyboards and stuff. I mostly stick to my bass now since I have always enjoyed good basslines. Basslines for me are the most important part of a track. Simon Following an eye test, I have discovered that I do not need pointdexter-style glasses with 6-inch thick steel frames in order to continue staring at my monitor. How gutted am I? How many lessons does it take a bass player to learn the bass? Two. In lesson one he learns the E string, in lesson two he learns the A string, and after that he's already got a gig. Did you hear about the bass player that was so badly out of tune that even the band noticed? What do you call a bass player without a girlfriend? Homeless. Why not throw away a dime? I throw away ten pennies all the time.

I also am trying, again, to play the guitar. I have been attempting to learn to do more with a guitar than just make "boink" noises for most of my life. I just haven't had the dedication to get very far, teaching myself. A few months back I hooked up with an instructor, (Joe Bethancourt), that I like and that has gotten me farther than I ever expected. I still do not think of myself as much of a player but at least now I feel like I am making progress. It helps that my instructor, in addition to being very talented, is a complete nut. :-D He is like what you would get if you combined Yoda and Robert Anton Wilson, and then steeped the result in 50+ years of music with emphasis on real Appalachian mountain music. He is incredible. I am thinking about taking up the banjo also. My instructor is the most amazing banjo player, and I think I may have been thinking about guitar for too long. Perhaps it is time to try something different to clear out the old preconceptions. Besides, I can not imagine continuing to study with Joe without at least trying the crazy thing. If he isn't the best clawhammer banjo player around, then he's in the running. :) Jason Jystad
