iTunes Software Kinda Sucks - Alternatives?

AnaPod has an awful support - I once mailed them, never heared anything again. But on the other hand, seriously, one cannot expect a support for a $29 tool. So probably the support is OK for the given price.

Do you still use Anapod, or have you changed to something else?

"...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001Switched back to iTunes, seems to be reliable. What I tried to do is to install Anapod inside a VMWare. That succeeded. Initially I tried to install iTunes into a VMWare, too, but whenever I started, the host(!) totally got hung (not even a blue screen), forcing me to reset the host PC. I guess it is something with the graphic driver or the way iTunes accesses the (virtual) hardware. Anyway, I now have installed iTunes on the host, running smoothly (although I do hate all the background services it installs and slows down my system).

I'm looking for more capable software to rip songs and transfer them to the iPod. So far, I've found what appears to be a couple of reasonable alternatives (both have trial versions): CopyTrans[^] ($19) and AnaPod[^] ($29) Can anyone recommend any other software that is better/as good as these two?

"...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001I used to hate iTunes and bought a copy of Anapod the day I got my iPod. Big mistake - although it transferred my songs OK, some of them became corrupt in the process and would stop playing halfway through. No word from support. I have since fallen in love with iTunes and all is well with the world. :)

- Very reasonable price (especially given the features).
- Incredibly flexible Media Management (audio, images, video)
- and excellent integration with iPod (and other Media Players)

I heard winamp can also sync your iPod. Never tried it though, I like iTunes.

Winamp rocks. It's free, works great, and isn't a memory hog so you can actually listen to music on your PC without ruining your performance. Great for playing pod casts and radio stations too. Will do everything iTunes does except push overpriced downloads. (I have the 4GB nano. It works fine)

"...the staggering layers of obscenity in your statement make it a work of art on so many levels." - Jason Jystad, 10/26/2001I've had problems with Anapod corrupting my iPod's database. I use iTunes mostly. I also use YamiPod[^] when I'm at work, since I can run it directly off the iPod. However, I'm looking at SharePod (which I see you eventually settled on) since it also transfers video files. YamiPod is nice, but so far only works with music files. Flynn
